We made a few exciting changes to the server, which we want to share with you:

New Roles
We added a few new roles, which are claimed in different ways:

<@&1013574546378477609> - For everyone who reached Utopia in the game and has 20+ hours of playtime.
<@&1013780979464290384> - For everyone who got all the achievements and has 100+ hours of playtime.
<@&1010840398794588200> - An addition to our No-lifer role; if you have 1000+ (one thousand) hours of playtime, you can claim this role as well.
If you want to claim any of these roles, you need to have Steam connected to your Discord profile and have the achievements public for us to check. Then contact @cobalt knoll. After the role is assigned, you can make your profile private again or remove your Steam connection from Discord.

Additionally, we created three new roles to award talented artists ( <@&1010834027088978001> ), designers ( <@&1005905742617911336> ) and builders ( <@&1014854979921649725> ), who create amazing art, in-game decorations and in-game builds, respectively, for Raft. The first two who are honored with those roles are @severe barn and @flint folio. Check their submissions in #art-n-screenshots and #art-gallery.

Slash Commands
As you all know, Discord is heavily moving towards the use of Slash Commands (/).
On our server, most commands will still stay as Prefix Commands (!).
However, we enabled the /wiki Slash Command in addition to the existing !wiki Prefix Command.
In addition, we are bringing back the /rank command! pufferhappy

For the next following two weeks we will be hosting two events: a Spooky Raft Emoji competition spookypuffer and a Spooky Raft competition hammer . Spooky Raft Emoji Competition
For a chance to win the <@&577613088820297728> role and getting your emoji hosted on the Raft server, create an emoji that captures both the spirits of Halloween and the game of Raft. While the requirements are few, we do have a few pointers for you to keep in mind:

Make sure the emoji works well both with the !jumbo command (128x128 pixels) and in small 32x32 pixel size.
Check out some of the already existing Raft emojis to look for inspiration and avoid remaking an existing concept.

Spooky Raft Creation Competition
Some cool Raft prizes will be on the line. Jump into the game and create a Raft within the theme of Halloween. Take a screenshot and post it in the channel made specifically for this purpose.

All submissions must be posted in either #spooky-emoji-submission-2022 or #spooky-raft-submission-2022 before the competition ends <t:1667257199:R> (31. October 2022 23:59 CET). The Raft Moderation Team will pick out winners the following days.

We have some exciting news to share with you all. We've decided to introduce a brand new feature to Raft that we think you're going to love: the ability to ride and tame sharks! brucehiya

That's right, you heard it here first. Starting today, you can use your trusty spear to tame any shark you come across in the open ocean. Once you've tamed a shark, you can ride it around the ocean, leap over obstacles and even use its sharp teeth to help you gather resources. copper

To tame a shark, you'll need to swim up to it and feed it one of your precious potatoes. Then, you'll need to carefully approach it and use your spear to gently scratch it behind the ears (if sharks had ears, that is). spear Once the shark has been sufficiently scratched, it will be loyal to you and ready to ride.

We know this is a major departure from the survival mechanics that Raft is known for, but we hope that you'll enjoy this fun new addition to the game. So go forth, brave Raft players, and ride those sharks to victory! brucelove

We know that several Rafters were facing issues with being stuck joining others world („Having issue connecting“) or getting stuck in storage chests when opening them.
The Devs analysed this issue in the last months and finally figured out, that one main reason for this issue is a software called „CloudFlare“. Disabling or uninstalling it solved the issue for the test candidates.

And before you ask: We currently do not have a progress update for porting Raft to consoles 🙂

Tomorrow is Rafts 5th birthday!

Five years back Raft was released in Early Access on Steam.
In those years so many things happened in Raft:
The game received a Story, we got engines and a steering wheel for a better control of the Raft, scary creatures were introduced, beehives were added based on a community design, we got ziplines and much more stuff to renovate our Rafts and then we got an overhaul of the Story and the biggest update with even more scary creatures.

Now the Devs are working on porting the game to consoles, and we got you some updates about the progress:

Giving a progress update in the current state is very hard and that's also why you did not hear much of the Devs in the past months.
What they can share is this:
The Devs are working on making the game playable on the consoles ‚as is‘, as there is much code to be changed. When this is done, features of the PC version, which relied on Steam functions have to be changed to work on the consoles as well.

There will be an UI overhaul for consoles, right now they are still drafting this, so they cannot share any screenshots.

The Devs are interested in supporting cross-play, but as they did not reach this stage in development, they cannot say if it will work out or not.

Raft will sadly not be made available on Sega Mega Drive and SNES

We are super happy to celebrate this anniversary together with you. And we planned lots of events with many cool prizes for you!

We are updating our scam awareness post as we are once again seeing a ton of different scams going around.

We want to make you all aware, once again, of the different scam methods and some steps to protect yourself.

Two Factor Authentication

Make sure to enable 2-step verification for all your accounts, not just for Discord.

This will give you additional protection in general and for some scam-scenarios.
NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR ACCOUNT DETAILS FOR ANY REASON.
Also do not share your account recovery mail address to anyone.

QR Code Scam

Never use random QR-codes you receive from others (strangers, friends or even verified bots) as they could be used to log in remotely.

They will most likely tell you to press log in afterwards in your app.
Even if the QR code looks like it's for something else, be careful, as scammers will use them and promise some free Nitro, access to servers or content, or other stuff.

Link Scam

Never click any links sent to you in DM by strangers.

Scammers are using masked links to make it harder to identify the target. You will see google.com, but it will open bing.com for you. Read then popup message in Discord carefully! It will tell you the real target link
Still always read URLs carefully prior to clicking them. People will use very similar domains to imitate the real one.
They will try to impersonate Discord staff at times, too - there are many scenarios.

Also be very careful when you receive links from friends or people you know.

We still see a high amount of hacked Discord accounts, which send scam links.
Also consider the above rules as a small typo in the link will lead you to the scam-website. (e.g. "comnunity" instead of "community" or "staem" instead of "steam", or „discorcl" instead of „discord" etc.)

„Get something for free" scam

Be cautious if someone is promising something for free.

Be cautions when they send you a „game to try" or some other executable files.
Many scammers promise in-game items, in-game currency, Discord-Nitro or even real money if you click a link, join a server, enter a code on a website or download and run a program.
Similar scams are going around for Crypto Currency and NFTs, promising fast money.
They will try to steal your login information, login tokens or money.

Steam Scam

Steam support is not available on Discord.

They will not contact you or ask you to contact them on Discord.
Scammers will DM you and tell you that they accidentally reported you on Steam, and a Steam Support person (or Admin) will need some details from you to remove the report.
Don‘t react to these messages! They are trying to steal your account.

Invite Scam

Scammers will invite you to servers, and ask you to verify to access it.

Mostly these servers are Crypto Currency- or NSFW themed or imply that they contain your personal information (photos, phone number, address, …).
The best option is to not join these servers, or to leave them immediately without trying to „verify".

Reporting

Protect others by reporting the messages to Discord and the Server Moderators.

You can reach the Raft Discord Moderation Team with a simple DM to <@&549998949612781579>.
You can report the scam DMs via the red „Report Spam" button. But reach out to Modmail first as the DM will close after you press that button.

Proactive Checks

Check regularly who is logged in to your account and which bots have access to it.

You can access this information in your Discord User Settings.
The menu „Devices" shows which devices are currently logged in to your account.
The menu „Authorized Apps" shows all bots which can access your account. Some of them could even send messages on your behalf or add you to servers without your knowledge.

Hey Rafters! Just wanted to let you all know the console porting is still well under way! Still can't announce a release date but here's a sneak peek of how the crafting menu has been reworked to provide a better experience with controllers! Have a nice day! @everyone

To clarify, controller support has not been added to the PC version yet. We hope to have controller support on PC as well when the console version is released. Also, the crafting menu is still a bit WIP, for example the aim icon is still a placeholder.

If someone contacts you asking for help with a Discord bot, specifically asking you to download and use their code, you're probably being scammed. Their code itself won't be malicious, but it will list a dependency which is malware in disguise.

It seems there was / is a global Steam outage, which is impacting the possibility to play with others in a multiplayer game.
There are multiple things you should try:

all involved players need to restart their steam client.
Sometimes even restarting the PC is required.
Others reported that changing the Download region will also help.

Hey there,
There seems to be a global network issue related to cloudflare, which is also impacting Steam.
And as the Raft multiplayer is initiated via the Steam Servers, this is impacted as well right now.
There is nothing we can do to fix this. We can just wait.

Just a PSA: Temporary FPS fix that was found by @limber bone, turning on motion sickness mode and restarting raft seems to increase FPS back to normal levels.

The attentive ones of you might have noticed the few additions to the developer team recently, and we would like to introduce the people behind the mysterious names! 😄

wChi is our newest art addition and he has been with us since early March. The concept painting of the red rocky island is all his amazing work, and more is sure to come!

Zelayda joined the team the other week as our Community Manager. She visits us at the office a few hours every day to listen to your thoughts and help you with all of your problems (about Raft).

After these introductions, I bet you are all just too eager to find out more about the people who make that awesome Raft game, as well as the friendly, clever, and fantastic ladies and gents who manage this server.

Therefore, we have put together a #meet-the-team channel where everyone from the developer and discord team has written a small presentation about themselves for you to get to know us a bit better! 😃

We are looking to expand our emoji palette on our server and want to ask for your help! If you are interested to bring a little bit of your creativity into our community, this is your chance!
Deadline: 13th of May, 11:59pm CET ➡ #event-submissions

Here are the guidelines to submit your Raft emoji creations:

Must be in line with our server rules (You can have a look at those again in #464352894267686928)
Format: PNG or GIF, at least 128x128 pixels, must be transparent, max file size 256kb
Add a small description to your artwork and the emoji’s name which you would like to see, if it gets implemented (e.g. :blob: )
You can submit as many emojis as you want to make
Must be Raft related!
Please do not steal/copy art from other communities or websites.
Do not write in the #event-submissions channel - only picture (+description/title) uploads allowed.
You can discuss and ask general questions in #off-topic or ask us with @cobalt knoll. Either one is fine, and we are glad to help you guys out!

Together with Discord, we're testing a brand new feature in the server, which is LFG channels (looking for game; find players to play with).
This feature lets you create a server-connected group chat with your group requirements that'll be listed on the LFG channel for everyone to see, and allow you to quickly find players to play Raft with.

As of now #450685819318173696 will be locked, as that channel will be it's replacement.

Nitro Boosters and Content Creator(role) now can use the function 'Go Live' in the 'Streams' voice-channel.
Other members are allowed to join the voice-channel to listen to the stream however they can't talk.

We request both Boosters and Creators to respect each other and to mute their mic when they join when someone else is streaming.

The devs hope to release it somewhere early this summer 2020, Northern Hemisphere.

At the moment, we are playtesting, working on the trailer, fixing bugs and preparing Maya and Rouhi for their new adventures.
It is not much longer until we can share more with you! We are so happy to see your excitement & support and can't wait for you to try all the new features coming to the game! bruceblush

And what about the changes on the server?

This server is now slightly over 2 years old! Thanks to all of you, our little community has grown at an enormous rate over those past 2 years, and has shaped up to be something bigger and better than we could've ever expected. With this massive growth and the next major update on the horizon, we felt like an overhaul of the server and our layout was long overdue, and is something we've had to do in order to keep the community going forward.

We're making the following changes today:

check **We will no longer be providing technical support for Raft in this server. **

As the server grew in size, providing Raft support on the server has become less and less sustainable, and it's unfortunately no longer manageable for us to keep it going forward. You'll now be directed to use https://support.redbeetinteractive.com/hc/en-us for any technical support related inquiries.

check ** We've removed several categories that were no longer in use.**

Staging and Events will no longer have their own roles and categories. We may still open up seasonal events and giveaways in special occasions, but those will be more time limited.

check ** Modding will now be exclusively using their own server.**

We felt our modding category was hindering the modding community's growth by imposing too many restrictions on them, so they'll now be exclusively using their own server. Check out the modding server at #modding-info!

check We're removing several channels that no longer serve their purpose.

#memes-and-animals - As the server grew, we have decided to no longer have a separate memes and animals channel to make the moderating easier.
#raft-bug-reports - Bug reports will now be done exclusively through the support portal (linked above). We may bring this channel back for a limited amount of time after updates.
#game-suggestions-until-2020 - Suggestions will now go through a new form instead. Check #info-and-rules for more information and a link.

Since there are no longer self-assignable roles outside of regions, we've overhauled the role assignment channel to only include regional roles. We'll also be deprecating the old member role - picking a region will now unlock the server as well! If you haven't picked your region yet, be sure to head to #server-unlock and do that now.

Did you notice the new role Rafters? We will be pinging this new role instead of "everyone" for community announcements like discussion topics, fun facts and similar Raft/Redbeet Interactive posts.

unamusedllama If you already have a region role, you don't need to do anything extra to get this role as it is already assigned to you. However, if you wish to opt-out of this role, you can do this in #server-unlock.
If you do not have a region role or if you are a new member, to get the Rafters, first you will need to select a region role in #server-unlock to unlock the server. After this, you can also grab the Rafters role in the same channel.

For other announcements like blogs, sneak-peeks, giveaways, we will continue using the everyone ping.

Make sure to enable 2-step verification for all your accounts, not just for Discord
This will give you additional protection from some scam-scenarios.

Never use random QR-codes you receive by strangers, as they could be used to log in remotely
They will most likely tell you to press log in afterwards in your app
Even if the QR Code is looking to be for something else, be carefully, as scammers will use them and promise some free Nitro or other stuff.

Never click any links send to you in DM by unknown people
Always read URLs carefully prior to clicking them, people will use very similar domains to imitate the real one

Be also very carefully when you receive links from friends or people you know
We currently see a high amount of hacked Discord Accounts, which send scam links.
Also apply the above rules, as a small typo in the link will lead you to the scam-website. (e.g. "comnunity" instead of "community")

Be cautious if someone if promising something for free
Many scammers promise ingame-items, ingame-currency, Discord-Nitro or even money if you click a link, join a server or download and run a program. They will try to steal your login information or login tokens.

Protect others by reporting the messages to Discord and the Server Moderators

It took us quite some time to go through all the suggestions and pick our favourites!

These are the new names:

We just introduced a brand new role and rescue system in our Discord server. brucelifeguard

We now have the <@&876538372619907072> role you can opt into in #role-assignment

You can use the !rescue command in #881454338227191838 if you need a revive.
We also created the !rescueinfo command which informs others about the usage of the other command.
Abuse of the rescue command, even once, will result in actions being taken

By opting in for this role, you set yourself open for others to help them out when they're in need of a rescue.
The role will get pinged when someone uses the command.

So grab your lifebuoy, sunglasses and whistle and get ready for duty.

Sorry for another ping, but it seems that Twitch has recently been hacked, leaking a lot of confidential information.
As of right now we are not fully aware of what this leak contains. We are still recommend changing your password on the platform and on all other platforms where you use the same password. Turning on 2FA (2 step verification) and using a password generator is heavily recommended.

In case you use Twitch to stream: changing your stream key is also strongly recommended.

If you want to make it a little bit more scary, use the provided Bruce head to wear.

Please do let us know what you thought of the map in #raft-lounge, try the different paths offered and enjoy.
Please do not post pictures of the maze that could spoil the experience for others

You can add the world by going in game, clicking "open world folder path", going in the "World" folder and pasting it there.

Raft will join #teamseas (https://teamseas.org/) by donating 25k US$ and you can help us double that amount by simply participating in different events here on discord! Totally free!

The event will run from today until December 13th 16:00 CET and there will be several ways for you to participate.

Help us clean up the real ocean by cleaning up the Raft ocean.
Upload a video on youtube (or a platform of your choice) where you collect as much floating debris as you can before incapacitation!

We've built higher and larger than ever before build , made everything fancy thanks to the Renovation Update and we even made it to over 250 000 members (almost 290k now) in our Discord community, which is incredible. ohwow

We've had plenty of laughs with the community aPES_Laugh , laughed with your self-made memes NeonMeme and have been downright amazed by all your amazing builds 🏠 🚢 ✈️ 🚁 and art 🎨.

We've setup a buddy rescue system that since the launch mid August has been able to help save over 700 of your fellow Rafters. brucelifeguard

With the Renovation Update, the ocean became filled with wildlife, such as whales, turtles, dolphins, sting rays, jellyfish and bird packs. triggeredseagull

Sorry for the ping, but due to the fact that those scams are still around and they are also switching to DMs, we want to make you all once again aware of it and some steps to protect yourself.

Make sure to enable 2-step verification for all your accounts, not just for Discord
This will give you additional protection in general and for some scam-scenarios.
NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR ACCOUNT DETAILS FOR ANY REASON
Also do not share your account recovery mail address to anyone.

I can't stress enough how important 2-step is for the protection of your account, if you don't have enabled this yet, do this immediately
Don't think "Oh but it won't happen to me", because it can happen to anyone.

Never use random QR-codes you receive by strangers, as they could be used to log in remotely
They will most likely tell you to press log in afterwards in your app
Even if the QR Code is looking to be for something else, be careful, as scammers will use them and promise some free Nitro or other stuff.

Never click any links send to you in DM by unknown people
Always read URLs carefully prior to clicking them, people will use very similar domains to imitate the real one.
They will try to impersonate Discord staff at times too, there are many scenarios.

Be also very carefully when you receive links from friends or people you know
We currently see a high amount of hacked Discord Accounts, which send scam links.
Also apply the above rules, as a small typo in the link will lead you to the scam-website. (e.g. "comnunity" instead of "community" or "staem"instead of "steam", or „discorcl“ instead of „discord“ etc)

Be cautious if someone is promising something for free
Be cautions when they send you a „game to try“ or some other executable files.
Many scammers promise ingame-items, ingame-currency, Discord-Nitro or even money if you click a link, join a server or download and run a program.
They will try to steal your login information or login tokens.

Protect others by reporting the messages to Discord and the Server Moderators
