I’m looking for some advice for my female leopard gecko, Geiger.
She started shedding about 3 days ago and is still wearing her gray shedded skin like a "coat." The skin is currently covering her eyes—one is only slightly open, and she seems very confused and disoriented because she can't see. She seems "slow," tired, and a bit weak compared to normal, likely because she's been struggling with this shed for 72 hours. When I tried to help her earlier, she made a "hissing" or huffing noise. She was eating fine 2 days ago, but refused food today.
What I’ve Tried So Far:
-
The Sauna: I put her in a Tupperware with warm, wet paper towels and air holes to try to steam the skin loose.
-
Hydration: I have been giving her water via water drops on her nose, which she has been taking.
-
Vitamins: I have recently started her on vitamins to help with her skin health.
-
Video: I have a video of her behavior and how the shed looks if anyone needs to see it to provide better advice.
Enclosure & Care Specs:
-
Enclosure: 40-gallon tank (Bioactive with live plants).
-
Heating/Lighting: 100w heat lamp over rocks and a dedicated UVB light.
-
Supplements: Repti Calcium (crickets are dusted).
She panicked back into her hide after her last soak. I’m worried about the skin on her eyes since it's been a couple of days. Is this just exhaustion from the shed, and how can I safely help her get those eye caps off without stressing her out more?
