Hello!! This is mango. I haven’t seen him glass surf in probably over two years when I had him in a small smaller tank.. I noticed he was glass surfing while I was studying today. I’m not sure if he’s actually glass surfing or if he’s just looking outside since this is the first time it’s been warm enough to open the door and if he is glass surfing what should I do? I currently have him in a 20 gallon tank. I was planning on getting him a 40 gallon tank over the summer when I get a new desk that can hold a heavy tank.

Nta yes, he could be glass surfing due to the current husbandry, and size of the enclosure! That is often a common issue,
But, its also the dreaded breeding season
so, they get freaky and will be more wonky in behavior like constantly coming to the glass, appetite loss ect.
It could also be because he saw you in the room and got curious, Honestly a lot of things can contribute to glass surfing Nta.
Nta what does the overall enclosure look like? We might be able to rule out if its a possible cause
I’m on my way to school right now so I had to look for pictures of my camera roll. Thank you for responding By the way! he has a 20 gallon tank. on his left side. It the like hot basking side and I gave him a a rock hide for that he also has a rock pile behind it. towards the middle. It’s mid temperature he has a regular like log hide and then his water and calcium bowl and then all the way to the right he has a humid hide with moss in it and like a climbing stick and a hammock he’s also been digging a lot so I changed his water after this picture when he digs it usually gets dirt into his water, which is fine cause I change it daily or whenever he kicks dirt into it. The only other thing I’m thinking is that like since I have the door open it like maybe looks new to him because it’s just been a door on that side of the tank this whole time and now it’s like the outside, but I’m not sure.
Also he has soil from the link when you do ! Guide
Wow, that first picture is horrible so there’s no clothes inside the tank. That’s just a reflection.
Nta so first thing i will say it it could use more hides! You could out a piece of black paper over the hide with multiple levels so it is closer to a true hide.
I would also recommend removing the net since they can snag teeth and claws as well as get yucky and are extremely hard to properly clean. You can replace it with natural clutter like cork bark to provide coverave.
I will say the thermometers you currently have aren't very accurate so those are likely reading wrong temps.
I would definitely see if getting more clutter and coverage in helps, since he may be feeling exposed as well as covering that hide to give him some more privacy and getting digital thermometers for accurate readings so we can make sure temps are what their supposed to be nta
Okay amazing thank you i can def do that i might send some photo of stuff when i go the pet store later and see if that works
Ill look into a better thermometer i had no idea
Your welcome and no worries, its a very common mistake. I myself made it at some point,
Digital thermometers are best!
Gonna see if this has one !guide
Is this a good thermometer?
Nta Yes
Tha k you
