My vet informed me that I should start picking up my gecko so I can easily check for health issues. Wondering how you can pick them up without them running away at top speed. Sir balls used to climb on to my hand on occasion but he stopped doing that. My vet said I should keep trying to pick him up to get him used to me but Im not sure if the best way to do this without stressing him out too much.

NQA from what I’ve learned in the server is they suggest choice base handling, just lay your hand and if he comes to you then pick him up but trying to pick him up without him wanting to can be stressful for him

for health related reasons you can do a scoop. but besides that it really should be choice based handling.
handling isn't the only way a gecko gets used to you so there's really no reason to do it for that reason.
