Hey all,

First off I have previously owned a leopard gecko who sadly passed away due to liver failure, so am some what aware of husbandry ect.

Pretty much I have a leopard gecko who’s 2.5 months old, I just got her.

At first she was pooping perfectly but the past 3 days her poo has been diarheia sludge (don’t have a photo can get one tommorow morning)

After a quick google (have never previously encountered this with my previous gecko) it lead me to possibly thinking temperatures.

So this is where I’m at, I need advice on the poo situation and whether it could be caused by temps. At the moment her basking spot is 35 however where she lies is only 27 and I’ve never seen her bask (as per night vision camera and day time). Could her poo be caused by her staying in cold temps?

Thanks all (all temps in Celsius)

provided youre using regulated overhead heating this actually doesnt seem like a temperature problem because if she needs heat, she will know where to go

what have you been feeding her recently?

i can recommend that you switch from dhp to incandescent as a general husbandry thing but I really don't think that's the issue here

i also dont think diet is the issue atm bc loose stools are often caused by too much water, say if someone fed too many hornworms

if you dont want to pay the full price for an examination, vets will typically just let you drop off a sample and call you with results.

id call the office to ask first

there are situations in which a dhp is a better option (if nighttime heating is required and someone only has access to one thermostat)

#

but ill always go for lighted heating

might be worth mentioning that 8% is a generous estimate, experts in reptile lighting have estimated that that's the most DHPs emit while some DHPs might not even breach 1% ir-a (if memory serves, take this with a grain of salt)
