#Help! My Leo is squinting, her tail is skinny and she wont eat
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Nta if your leo has lost significant weight (more then 10%visible) she needs a vet. Sudden weight loss, alone is a concern for the vet. Plus if she's having alarm behavior there could be something wrong health wise
Nta unfortunately i can't give a range as it will depend on whats wrong.
Regardless if winter is a factor they shouldn't lose weight like that unless something is wrong. Do you have a picture of her on a flat surface? To help us judge body wise?
Nta a vet bill can be as little as 70$usd to a few hundred dollars, it will depend on what the vet does or what treatment/medicine may be needed
Sure! One sec
Tail is concerning me
I just put 15 crickets in her tank a few days ago
Nta that gecko needs a vet-- as soon as possible.
It also looks like she has some metabolic bone disease going on with her poor legs, but that is way to thin. Definitely not winter related nta
Nta not related to the vet but her enclosure also isn't properly setup and appears way to small
How big should her enclosure be for her size?
Nta thriving minimum is a 36x18x18 or your 40gallon breeder
thriving isn't surviving. That's a good thing to keep in mind, leos are hardy little guys but your little girl needs a vet
I'm gonna give you the guide to read through, it has science backed up to date care on these guys. A few things i can go ahead and mention
1# book a vet appointment. As soon as you can
2# gently replace the reptile carpet with paper towels. Reptile carpet isnt proper and can snag claws/teeth as well has harbor bacteria.
A question, what is your little girls supplement schedule looking like? Are you using calcium? Multivitamin nta
!guide
I use repashy but I haven’t replaced it for a few months
And are napkins a good substitute?
Repashy multivitamin or calcium?
Calcium
Nta yes napkins can work as long as they don't have dyed patterns on them
Is it calcium without D3? Or with? Both are needed nta but both are used differently
I believe D3?
Okay, your gonna wanna get calcium without D3 and a multivitamin. Nta
Is she a rehome or has she developed mbd with you? Because usually when metabolic bone disease to the point of visibility its bad. Nta
unfortunately it can't be reversed but you can revent it from worsening nta
I’ve had her almost her whole life
So I’m very concerned, how long does it take to happen?
And how do you know? Is it the color?
nta im not sure how long it exactly it takes to develop but if she's only have calcium with D3 and no uvb that could be the cause.
And its because her legs are mishapened appearing sadly nta
Ok, so UVB and adding to her diet correct
Nta So, right now. In my opinion you need to
1# take her to the vet, have a fecal done to run a parasite panel and make sure there isn't anything invading her system.
2# Replace the reptile carpet with napkins
3# get calcium WITHOUT D3 + a Multivitamin
4# Bigger sized enclosure (because your UVB will depend on the mesh of your tank)
Those are the most important imo, this girl and getting her enclosure up to date will cost a good penny. I will admit, a up to date setup usually costs 300-500$ usd that's not gonna count the vet bill.
