#Upgrading my neurologically disabled leopard gecko

Nta but we have plenty of disabled leos here who are in thriving min tanks! (40 gallon) Honestly, Probably just trying to make the transition as fast as possible would be best, like having the tank setup in advance possibly so you can switch her right over! If you have to take stuff from her tank, You'd probably wanna put her in a little container (we call it baby jail XD) and you can put something over it to darken it and make then feel safe inside! Nta
Will I mean when we got her she was just a baby she weighed just a little over 20 G when we got her so she was really young so we just put her in a 20 gallon tank cuz that's what she fit best in and when we got her that's what they said to put her in until she got bigger and then they set upgraded to a 40 gallon tank
she's way past old enough, 40g is the minimum for all ages
as far as making it easy though, i would just say have the enclosure 100% setup before moving her so you can make it less stressful for her
what are her neurological issues like? can she walk fine
She stumbles around some she's got Enigma syndrome and a small amount of metabolic bone disease in her front feet from lack of UVB in her breeder home and then I was gone for six and a half months in rehab and I came back and she was obese she more or less ways like 150 g so she she's thick
And she has cataracts in her eyes so her vision ain't the best
And then when she's stressed out or scared or nervous she spins around in circles and since we've had her she's had one seizure
Like I know upgrading her to a 40 gallon tank because that's the minimum forum is best but I don't know if it's necessarily best for her
Cuz I doesn't want it to cause more problems
but i do have the tank order tho
And she likes to lay eggs about every 4 months
They're never fertile tho
NTA
I have a disabled Leo too. She’s 18grams and is thriving in her 40 gal.
Best advice is to keep things low. She has some climbing options but nothing is higher than her body length. This means she can’t fall and get hurt. I used a lot of fake plants in pots to provide cover so she can get from one side of the tank to the other without being seen. Her basking spot is low bricks with some slabs of rock. One is actually a tile from Home Depot.
And you do know substrate as well
Yeah! I use paper towels for ease of cleanup and because I worry a lot. It still gives her plenty of grip as she moves
No one says you don’t know anything
Everyone keeps their little ones a bit differently. You know your baby will eat dirt so you keep her on paper towels. Nothing wrong with that! It’s actually one of the two recommended substrates. The other being a mix of play sand and topsoil.
I don’t know if mine will eat it and with how fragile she is I don’t risk it.
yes
Can we see pictures of her current setup and her cute little self?
im not home at this time
And she's also obese and I don't want to get judged for it
Cuz I had nothing to do with her for the six and a half months I was in rehab

Agreed, If anyone says anything rude or uncaring it will be taken care of. We don't judge here
