So I’m stuck between buying a uro or a blue tongue, I want a active and fun creature I can play with during the day hopefully I’ve had 1 reptile ever my Leo, so I’m wondering if either is better for beginners as I need too make a descion in less then a month when the reptile show on September 7th comes. So if anyone can tell me which fits my needs or the pros and cons that’d be nice and also which would maybe convince a mom a little lmao

A beardie is a option too
how much space do you have? thats all it really boils down to. nta uromastyx require very high temps and ive heard multi layer basking spots as well.
from what ive seen, all of these require a 6x2x2 at the very least, and even 3ft high for beardies that climb trees in the wild
One whole side of a room
Babies will all start in a 4x2x2
and eventually
a upgrade too a 8x2x2 (my dream at least) but prolly a 6x2x2
@viral heron I like them all but don’t know which
IMO blue tongue skinks would be a good option if you could go for the 8' cage. Beardies have more complicated diet and lighting / heating requirements. Uros tend to not like a lot of interaction and have wild heating requirements.
@merry owl
ugh
so many good options
Now I’m hearing about the spotted
Peyton
python
Likeee
man
Issue is not a lot of care for spotted pythons
so
and there not the most common thing
I'd recommend slowing down a bit and just researching what you really want for a while.
might settle on a spotted
yea ik just so many options 😭
Always wanted a snake as a kid but mom and dad hate the thought of dead rodents
Or mice
But might settle on a spotted
Are you wanting to handle the animal often?
Just 1-2 a week I heard spotted pythons are curious and nice and don’t mind being handled
Also good eaters
They're pretty food driven, they're more even than childreni but I would still not be surprised by food bites
Yea I expect that my mom is okay with like pinkies
Which is what I’d feed him
? they will not eat pinkies forever
oh
I’ll do more research
They grow very slowly
so I’m thinking pinkies till adult hood?
They need to have regular feeder size changes as they grow.
ok thank you do you possibly have any tank builds I can go off of?
this could be my first ever snake so I’m not completely informed if I do get one still currently researching
A few adults just for reference
I've only kept childreni as far as antaresia goes. Care for them is pretty much identical however.
ok wow
Do you mind sending a pic of the tank? If you still have it
Also what size do you recommend
I doubt I'll be able to find any of my own pics, it was years ago. For adults I would do a 4x2x2, maybe a bit more height if you'd like. Could get away with a 3x2x2 for smaller individuals but I would def shoot for the 4' length if possible
Ok, any popular breeds you know of
Breeders*
I’m looking and can’t find,many
I doubt there will be any at my local reptile expo
From what I’ve seen none of the vendors have one
They're pretty common. I would expect to see a handful at any expo in the states
you need to ask what your parents are okay with before making the decision. dont assume mice/rats are okay
Gotchu
There okay with pinkies but will do a little convincing on small mic
Mice
i recommend slowing down and researching species you’re interested in until you settle on just one species
