I have a 2.5 Gallon Tank and glass lid that I want to set up for Cherry Shrimp. I will probably bump it up to a 5 Gallon Tank honestly. I have kept Betta fish and snails before, but never Shrimp.

I have the Aqueon Clip-On LED Aquarium Fish Tank Light for Planted Aquariums

I have a sponge filter with the pump, tubing, and check valve that I am going to use for filtration.

I have Aqua Natural Galaxy Sand that I would like to use as substrate.

I have a piece of driftwood and a rock cave hide that I will add into the Tank.

I have an appropriate heater for the tank and I have Seachem prime for water conditioner.

I also have Hikari Tropical Shrimp Cuisine for food for the shrimp and to possibly use to help the cycle.

I have the API freshwater test kit that I will use to check the water during cycle.

Am I missing anything?

I would also appriciate suggestions for easy floating plants as well as plantable plants. Also root tab/liquid fertilizer recomendations would be wonderful!

Thanks!

I'd love to post picutres during and after setup.

Hi one sec I’ll read

#

Sounds like a great setup so far. I’d recommend getting botanicals/leaf litter for them and cycling w ammonium chloride over food

#

Liquid fert- nilocg thrive + is good

Easy plants that I like for a small tank- cryptocorynes, dwarf chain sword, guppy grass, moss, bacopa

Floaters- riccia fluitans makes insane floating mats that shrimp love but it’s also like duck weed and you will never get rid of it, red root floaters, pennywort (smaller varieties), water spangles, salvinia, dwarf water lettuce would all work

If it’s in the budget yes

2.5g I’d consider minimum (easy to keep stable params)

#

but anything larger is easier

#

more water volume means more stability

Just a stand? Or a whole rack

They meant tank I think

Depending on your budget look at UNS, F zone, and Landen

Would the Fluval Spec 5 gallon tank be a good choice for a 5 gallon for shrimp. Would I have to modify anything to keep the shrimp from getting sucked into the filter?

you can always double check the filter's input slots since im p sure the spec has a built in system

#

but back when my work had a flex running with neos, even if they ended up in the filter they werent hurt. they just kinda live in there and eat filter crud

@pseudo nymph do you think this tank could be used for anything besides snails if I were to get it later down the road like in a couple of months? it is a nicrew nano tank https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DMNV8MXG

no fish, just inverts

or you could just do a planted tank
