what i can see is that he isnt really active, he eats poops and is active when i handle him, he lives in a 55 gallon tank with hides branches and plants so it isnt supper bare,

Uvb usually depends on the mesh of your tank, But linear fixtures don't need a mesh cover

Not nocturnal. They’re crepuscular. In captivity they act more cathemeral which means they’re out whenever they please.
