Hi, my temps are too low atm and I’m not sure how I can get the proper gradient, directly under the halogen lamp is around 34C then the hot side is 20 while the rest of the tank is 16-17, I’m thinking of getting a ceramic heater but where should I put this? Also should the tank be completely dark at night because I turn the UVB light off at night but slightly dim the halogen so it still stays warm

what wattage bulb are you using rn ?
halogens usually heat up surfaces well but they can mess around with ambients
incandescent bulbs are a better option maybe for you
pick a bulb with a wider diffusion you can try out the exo terra intense basking bulb or arcadia flood basking bulb from the shopping list :)
yes the tank shouldn‘t have any lights during night time
if your enclosure drops below 18C you can get a CHE (for night time only)
temp drops are natural and recommended
would you mind sending your tank setup ?
I used to use this one but I thought a halogen would be better, should I switch back?
they have the same IR output. they just have different diffusion / spread. i'd switch back to the floodlight if it actually gave you good temps overall.
