My oldest leo, Pebbles has this little cave against the glass. As seen in the picture, She has ALWAYS gone to that specific spot to scratch at the glass and wont stop until i get her out and she keeps doing it. I'm not sure why, Should i put a piece of Cardboard over the glass part so she can't see out? Or should i remove it? I don't know what to do since she doesn't do it anywhere else just in that specific spot?

Those are usually better to place facing away since they provide not a lot of actual cover
So just flip it around so the solid part is facing out NQA
Alright, I'll try that and hopefully it helps. Not sure what causes her to do this cause she'll lay in the middle part and sleep :/
that could just be her way of saying she wants explore time?
The open hides like that are supposed to be put up against a solid side or faced away in general I think (NQA)
It's what I've seen be told in here
See she always climbs on my hands when i open the glass for her
So that's why i always thought it was her way of getting my attention and want handling time ;-;
well I'm not contesting that, I just also know in the past most of my leos have had a "spot" where they'd go when they want out
It definitely could be that too, my lil baby does it but I make sure her out area is open and free from hides so I can get my hand in there for her to get up on
There's nothing for her to be stresses about so idk why else she'd be doing it, and she always does it in the evenings anywhere from 8pm to 10pm all the time- its usually when i feed her and give her little nose boops and handling time if she wants
yeah nqa but to me it just sounds like she wants uppies HSHSH
I'm just saying those multiple level hides don't really count as hides unless the open side is up against something
And something that is solid color
Ik ^^ i just got it for her so i could get pics when she was a baby without stressing her out
technically they dont count as true hides anyways because they have more than one opening from what i know
Mhm!
Yeah but putting it up against something still helps with it lol
She's not happy XD
i tried rearranging it so that 'hide' was up against the glass but idk if she likes the new setup- she's being a curious girl
Maybe try laying your hand flat like in the dirt so she doesn't have to go up the glass
i do that when i need to clean up her tank, she comes to my hand almost immediately, idk what she's doing, exploring ig-
honestly whenever i use those hides they go completely unused UNLESS its against the glass, my leos like to watch me (and of course i have plenty of other hide options if they dont want to
I'll catch her sleeping in the middle every so often, and she likes to sploot on the bottom floor alot so
thats what adrian likes to do, he likes to rest on the bottom floor so he can watch me whenever i move around HSHSH
Fr pebbles does the same XD
now she wont even go into the 'hide' ;w;" why are these babies so confusing
thats what happens with me, mine only ever like wall hides if theyre on the glass
🥲 should i move it back and see?
i would, just to see whether or not that changes it
i will just to check, and if she goes straight to it i'm gonna assume its cause she wants upsies
i would just leave the hide where you placed it.
i can't move it anyway ;w;" she climbed in top
pawing at the glass can mean numerous things. (from stress, to them being weird, to having no reason at all)
are you moving around or doing anything when she's pawing at the glass
room lights on when tank lights are off is another^
Yeah im usually walking around my room or getting ready for bed when she does it
yeh i think she's just reacting to the movement and the light still being on
I just have them on so i can see what i'm doing. My room lights are almost always off
not because "she wants uppies"
leos tolerate handling at best and it's most likely due to the fact we're warm and also outside tank is new stimuli so brain go brr
but it sounds like she's just reacting to movement.
HSHSH mine have always done something similar when theyre eager to explore so mind me
one of mine paws at the glass when i move around (she even glass surfs...) all of mine will step up into my hand as well if i open the tank but
it's not cus they want out.
Oml help she keeps trying to climb out of the tank
scoop her up and place her in a spot then put the hide back facing away where you can't see into it
or put her in a baby jail
Im trying to finish her tanks new setup and she's exploring everything and getting in the way of my hands XD
Huh- wait is that supposed to be a thing o-o
a little critter carrier / tupperware / box that you can put them in while you do maintenance and stuff? yeh
I did i just had to arrange everything different things so everything would fit and she's following my hand XD
Ooh!
I have one of those ;w;
also just to double check since you got a second leo recently and she's not in a quarantine setup.
You are washing your hands in between each animal and using different tools and stuff for both correct?
Absolutely-
okay i just had to make sure some form of biosecurity was happening LOL. you would be surprised at the fact some people don't do that
I'm not surprised..... I've seen it first hand and, i'm a germophobe because i have a compromised immune system so i wash my hands already thirty times a day especially with school XD so yeah, when i mess with anything that involves my animals and their stuff i always wash my hands
I don't think she likes all the chaos of moving stuff
I am, i'm replacing it with a little basking shelf :3
Yeah i learned that awhile ago, so I've been collecting stuff and coming up with a little corner piece that's kinda like a shelf but for basking and since she likes laying up high :3
