(The lamp I have isn't compatible w/ a thermostat)
I have a temp gun that can measure temps, should I just keep track w that?
NQA have you been feeding the gecko??? geckos CANNOT digest without heat
i fed her today.. so i think i should js keep the lamp on
i checked temps with the gun and theyre at 96 on the highest
the main reason we don't recommend using the on/off thermostat without a dimming lamp is because it could create a strobe light effect. You can keep it on that thermostat temporarily. If you have a heat source that doesn't emit light like a deep heat projector or ceramic heat emitter, you can use that instead of your regular heat source to remove that strobe effect.
yeah i dont have a ceramic heat emitter or dhp... i ordered it but its gonna come by the 6th! is 3 days w it okay??
well more like 2 since its the 4th tommorrow
i dont wanna cause any issues w like poop, and shes already kinda stressed bcs of the new tank ðŸ˜
im just scared thats gonna be a bad combo
plus she got rlly mad at me while rehoming her... she hissed sadly bcs i had to take her out to rotate the tank after putting her in bcs we put the tank on the wrong way 😞
and maybe it wasnt a good idea to feed her.. ðŸ˜
Leos are hardy animals. She will ok for a few days without a heat source! If you have an old heat mat you could also use that as a temp heat source connected to the thermostat
okay thank you i didnt wanna be overthinking for like 3 days ab her worried shed get issues from it ðŸ˜
like genuinley thank you so much for helping me
since she ate today, she might take longer than usual to digest her meal. so i wouldn't feed her again until she has the heating set up properly. Are the temps in your home around the low to mid 70s?
theyre like 75-70 usually i think
lowest is 68
she will be ok
yayy!! she finally has a heat lamp
wait just double checking
is my lamp supposed to be dimming or turning on and off?
because it goes on for a few minutes and turns off w the thermostat
idk if thats supposed to happen
its a dimming lamp
to clarify, you have a dome with a dimmer and an on/off stat?
or is your stat dimming?
im confused wym
take a picture of your lamp and thermostat
this is my lamp
you have to manually adjust the dimmer switch on the cord
it will not automatically dim.
the only thing that automatically dims are dimming thermostats like herpstat and the exoterra dimming thermostat.
wait so
you have to set the dimmer to a level of strength that hits the temp you want without the thermostat turning it off and on all the time
the thermostat is more or less a fail safe
oh wait
so like if its too high itll go on and off but if it goes on and off do i just turn it down till it stops?
the dimmer
and at night do i js turn the dimmer all the way down?
you can connect the thermostat into a timer and the timer will shut off power to the thermostat and the lamp
something like this is pretty good
you could manually turn it on and off every night but timers are sooooo convenient
im trying not to buy anything rn (saving money for another tank for my bts)
mk!
timer's are mostly for convenience but IMO it's worth it. in the long run they're not very expensive. i have my timers set from 7am-7pm. if im ever out late or sleep in then i dont have to worry about my animals day/night cycle getting off
yeah im just gonna wait for a bit on that but ty for the ideaa!!
