Hey guys, so I had a 5.5” fixture and I had an incandescent bulb in it. It was doing a great job but I read to switch to halogen so I did. I think the bulb was too long and it melted the lid. Now I bought an 8” fixture for the halogen bulb.
I wanna use the halogen bulb on the big fixture but im worried it’ll still burn. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Nqa I did have this happen once, I’m pretty sure the light was to close to the edge so it melted the lip. You might check the temperature in the enclosure and see if the bulb was to hot (it might not be but probably not a bad idea, it could very easily just be what the tank was made of)
