hi! i just got a thermostat and set the ideal heat to be 90 F (let me know if that’s too high for inside of the hot hide?)
using that specific heating equipment, the hot side gets hot fast. it’ll go to 90 and above if im not keeping a close eye on it (hence the thermostat). but for about 3 hours, the temp has dropped to about 74 and has barely made its way up to 74.6. is this normal for a thermostat?

No, Definitely not normal. Is your temperature probe placed wrong or did it move and you haven't noticed? Could be a faulty thermostat or just a faulty heat product all together (NQA)

thank you! i just checked and the thermometer probe is in the correct spot for sure.
i felt the hot hide just now and it isnt even hot

thank you! i figured out the issue (maybe), 😭 the company sent me a cooling thermostat when i ordered a heat thermostat. either that or im stupid and ordered the cooling one bc they look the exact same! either way i have the wrong one and will be ordering another

To be fair unless it’s like dangerously hot the stuff isn’t gonna feel all that different to you as a warm blooded creature

We don’t generally measure the inside of the hide :3 it being in there may be causing the temps to be funky

The thermometer is for your ambients. The thermostat is to control your heat source
Both are needed. You won’t be using the thermostat to be reading the ambients

got it, thank you again! so where should i leave my temp probe for my thermometer..? i currently have it on top of a little house thats on top of her hot hide lol
it looks like it’s not securely placed but theres plenty of command tape under it 💪 (under the hide)

Your thermometer just needs to be on the hot side. It doesn’t need to be directly on the basking spot. :3
You just need the hotside ambient
Mine for example. Shortcake’s I gotta fuck with cus the ambients aren’t great enough but
