#False Bottom

I'll be redoing my leo's tank soon and was wondering if I should put in a false bottom. I didn't originally, because I figured it wouldn't be needed in an arid setup. However, a false bottom may make it easier to maintain humidity levels without making my substrate extra moist. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does false bottom = drainage layer or is that something else?

False bottoms are typically made with egg crate and screen to hold the substrate level over an empty area where water can gather / evaporate. I've personally only used them in paludariums but if you have difficulty with maintaining humidity and the cage is tall enough it might be something to play around with

The tanks I personally have with empty false bottoms have canister filters attached to them so adding leca or bio filtration would just be adding a lot of weight
