So my Leo is around a year old or maybe two I’ve had her for less then 7months and she’s not skinny she’s still pooping but she’s eating more then she normally does but it’s starting of breeding season and I thought they are supposed to lose appetite she’s still active isn’t showing signs of stress but she’s like going after my fingers like their meal worms, is she just being playful because the bites don’t hurt she don’t even bite down just nips don’t break skin or nothing, so I’m wondering if she’s just being playful or is there another reason why she’s more hungry instead of being less hungry

#

It is a confirmed female tho

#

Also 60.45 grams last weighed less then a week ago

drifting phoenix
#

What else are you feeding her?

#

How much are you feeding her?

median coyote
#

Like 4 or 5 dusted meal worms some times dusted with calcium sometimes vitamins

#

But ive been trying to feed her every other day instead of every day because she is getting older and I don’t want her to get obese

median coyote
#

Could she still be juvenile

#

@drifting phoenix

Feeding the same thing can be sparking bordem. Mealworms are also a small feeder. So I can see why they might be hungry.

#

How are you coming to the estimation that she might be a juvenile?

median coyote
#

Because I havnt had her very long

#

And I use to feed her every day

#

I was feeding her crickets as well but they aren’t staying alive with everything I can think off and I’d rather not waste my money so I probably will try some other things like dubais she likes them and they usually stay alive

drifting phoenix
#

Most people don't really buy them to keep.

#

They usually buy a small quantity to use.

median coyote
#

I don’t have a close by location for crickets

drifting phoenix
#

Silkworms, BSFL, Dubias, Mealworms, and Crickets are good staple feeders.

median coyote
#

What is back

#

Bsfl

drifting phoenix
#

Black Soldier Fly Larva.

median coyote
#

O

drifting phoenix
#

Where did you get the gecko from?

median coyote
#

Petco my guy

#

Not the best place

#

I wasn’t very informed in the lizard world until after I got her and wanted to make sure she was took care of

drifting phoenix
#

Ok.

#

Gecko could be over a year old or under.

median coyote
#

Yea she was smaller at first and gained size fast and she sheds nearly every two or three weeks

drifting phoenix
#

Could be an adult then.

#

I would add larger feeders to her diet and rotate three feeders within her diet.

#

Right now you are feeding her small feeders.

median coyote
#

Well the mealworms shed

#

So does that make them super meal worms?

#

They were advertised as normal mealworms

drifting phoenix
#

What do you mean shed?

median coyote
#

They shed

drifting phoenix
#

Super mealworms tend to be quite large.

#

Do you mean pupate?

median coyote
#

Like an inch or two

#

No not pupate bc they are still worms

drifting phoenix
#

Send a picture.

#

Mealworms do naturally shed.

median coyote
#

Idk they are kinda smallish

drifting phoenix
#

Those are normal mealworms

median coyote
#

Yea

#

I’ll try getting crickets and dubais

#

Do I feed her more frequently until I get more ?

#

@drifting phoenix

drifting phoenix
#

No

#

Just feed like 10 mealworms at a time

#

And monitor her weight

median coyote
#

10 meal worms?

#

Okay

#

So larger amount instead of more frequent

drifting phoenix
#

She might be over a year old.

#

If she is then you should feed two times a week.

#

But its hard to tell.

#

That's one of the many issues of pet store geckos.

#

But ten mealworms is not really a lot.

median coyote
#

Yea

#

She was with like 5 other geckos

median coyote
#

It wasn’t great

median coyote
#

@drifting phoenix she’s got crickets and large Dubias in addition to her mealworms now 🙂

#

And she loves the dubias I was scared she couldn’t eat them at first

#

It’s like a 5 star meal for her I swear
