nqa but I give my leopard gecko a different thing every night she's fed, or at least I try to
You can switch every feeding yeah
I personally do a different feeder per week now but in the past I’ve tried to do every feeding different yeh
Ok ty
I really don't like having crickets because they die so quick and smell bad (I have to keep them in my room) is switching between Dubia and mealworms ok?
nqa ideally you should have a rotation of 3 staple feeders. dubias and mealworms are okay for 2 of them
btw crickets dont die quick or smell super bad if you keep on top of maintaining them.
when i have crickets i clean their bin once per 2 days and thatll keep them going for like 3 weeks
NQA - 3 feeders is ideal. Heck, if you could manage it, 5 feeders would be even better to diversify nutrients and taste. For reasons, I could only use 1 feeder for a time (problem has since been fixed) and my little guy got so tired of the same thing each time that he refused to eat for 2 weeks until I got other feeders. You could rotate per feeding, weekly, or even bi-weekly, but I wouldn't risk going beyond 2 weeks of the same thing. I've even heard of people mixing different feeders in a single feed.
Tl;Dr - More diversity more often is best for Gecko physical and mental health.
Clean their bin.. like the substrate? I heard to use vermiculite but an inch of that replacing every other day would be costly
oh i dont keep mine on substrate, i just have em in a bare bottom bin with veggies and sometimes a damp paper towel for water
crickets ingest their substrate so i dont give it to them. just so i can make sure theyre sufficiently gutloaded
Oh ok! How would cleaning it work... Transfer all of them to a different container?
yup! that's what i do
im also careful not to keep too many at once in a small container.
like i keep 20 maximum in a small critter keeper because of their high ammonia output
you have to make sure theres quite a bit of ventilation for them
