I have mentioned this a few times and I would like some suggestions on what to try next.
It may just be this time of year, but Lenny has really be eating a lot less. He eats one or two insects a feeding. Some feedings he refuses to eat at all. So he’s only getting 1-4 insects a week and this does not feel like enough for an adult.
I try mixing up feeders (crickets, mealworms, BSFL, roaches), feeding insects in an escape proof bowl, and tong feeding and nothing seems to entice him to eat outside of chasing down escaped insects. He seems to enjoy the hunting aspect. However, he’s not a great hunter. So, he will often miss, get embarrassed, and either lose interest completely or hide for the rest of the night in shame (he does this with escape proof bowl feeding too).
My husband suggested doing a bowl style feeding like we do with the WTFs where we put Lenny in a travel carrier at feeding time so he can chase down the insects but not lose them in the tank. However, I know in the past it’s been said that handling leos after feeding is a no-no. So I’m kind of at loss for what to do.
Any suggestions would be great!!
