So my geck went in her travel tank for a general health check at the vets, found this absolutely tiny bug. it was black with white in the middle, didn't have head or legs it looked like a tiny oval slug.
the only way it could have gotten in there is it was on the gecko, bit concerned, has anyone else seen one of these? 😭

Was the bug from the gecko's travel tank, or did it pick it up from the vet?

from the travel tank, on the way to the vets I spotted it

Just making sure the gecko didn't pick up anything from the vet like reptile mites, is why I asked. Could it have been a carpet beetle larvae? I sometimes find those in random places that haven't been disturbed for a while if this is your first time using the travel tank in a bit. Otherwise with this description I'm not usre.

I've googled carpet beetles and they look nothing like sadly, it looked exactly like the picture. almost looked not real and it was just slowly movin up the side of the blanket it there

Yeah, I'm not sure without a picture. The ectoparasites you want to worry about with reptiles are reptile mites, but I assume the vet would've noticed if your leo had them since they'd be visible on the scales 🤔 They're also transmitted reptile to reptile, so if you don't have contact with any other reptiles I'd say that's unlikely.

If it was on an undisturbed shelf, maybe indeed a house bug. You can post the description in #invertebrate-chat too and see if anyone recognizes it from your drawing

yeah I don't have contact with other reptiles, vet said she's nice and healthy
