bex went to the vet today after 2 weeks of no poop. they gave her an enema. and gave me 5 doses of lactulose to give her.

i dropped her off at home and then went to school.

when i got home, she had in fact dropped a deuce. shes already looking much more comfortable and moving around much more.

the thing is, im not sure if everything is out of her system yet. she had about 5 meals since her last poop.

should i go forward with giving her the lactulose to make sure she gets everything out? or would it hurt her to give her the lactulose if she did poop everything out already

I think it might be best to call in and ask your vet if possible since they assessed her and have a better idea what’s happening in her gut NQA

From what I can tell with a quick google search continuing to give it to her if she’s already passed the impaction could lead to loose stools and a vitamin/ nutrient imbalance

However if not all of the material passes you could end up with another vet visit and the same problems

they did do a physical exam, but her tummy was soft and normal. no xray because they thought she didnt need it since she was pooping, just extremely sporadically and very large poops every time.

i alsk agreed that she wasnt impacted for this reason. back when she was impacted previously in march, she had stopped eating and stopped pooping altogether for a whole month which wasnt the case this time
