#sterilizing wood

A lot of us pour boiling water over wood and scrub it, especially for things like cork bark or large pieces that are harder to bake or boil. I know some people bake though, but I don't know the temperature offhand so someone else will have to chime in for the exact temps.
how do you boil the water? Just in a kettle? Do you poor it outside :o?
Pour*
You can! I don't own a kettle (something I need to get so I can stop heating my water for tea up in the microwave... lol
) but that's the easiest way to do it. I heated mine in a pot on the stove and just poured it over the wood in my tub, but I think outside would be easier and cleaner.
If you're foraging from outside and you suspect there's wood-boring insects inside of the wood though (ie. holes in the wood) I'd recommend baking just to make sure everything inside is taken care of, but for most things boiling water and scrubbing has been fine.
got it :}!! I actually just foraged and baked some wood earlier lol, i get paranoid abt safety for my baby
But i did find a long branch that couldnt fit in the oven, and looks rlly solid so i think doing boiling water should work ^_^!!
Sounds good!
