Hey so I want to get UV light for my leopard gecko but have heard that the distance the gecko's basking point is from the UV like can hurt it. Just dont wanna get a UV light and find out im burning him. Any truth to this and if so how can I choose the right distance and UV light I use?

Before I repurposed the tank from my old turtle enclosure to an enclosure for my leopard gecko

So Zoo med 20 gallon long ig would be ur answer

if you have a non albino- you could get the arcadia 7% that way when you make an enclosure upgrade it will likely still work. however in your current 20 gallon enclosure i would just make sure it is no closer than 10 inches away from your leo. if you have an albino then the arcadia shadedweller max 2.5% would work

before getting uvb though i would make sure you have adequate clutter/cover in the enclosure so they have a means to escape it or cryptic bask. take a look at #enclosure-inspo for ideas of properly decorated enclosures
