Soooo this is my first (and hopefully successful) Bioactive I’ve set up! Coming to this discord has helped me SO MUCH. I attached photos of his original enclosure as well and within a month or so (and with the help of you all 💕) I’ve been able to give him a home I’m really proud of. Just want to see if anything else is needed or if anyone has some extra tips!
Also the temps are off here due to me planting for 35-45 minutes getting the right spots. Excuse my grubby fingerprints on the walls, those are being wiped as we speak lol
Enclosure: Reptile Habitats from Dubai website, 50 Gal 36x18x18
Lighting/UVB/ETC: Halogen Heat Lamp 75 Watts on a dimmer, my Albino Miso is sensitive to light c; Arcadia ShadeDweller Full ProT5 UVB kit (2.5% UVB). 4 pack of digital thermometers to help with accurate readings outside of my surface temp gun.
Substrate: 70/30 mix of the ReptiSoil (no additives or fertilizers) as well as washed Play Sand from Quikrete
CUC: Currently with a mix of Powder Blue Isopods and Springtails, waiting a few weeks to see if they continue to multiply and if not will be switching to a few others that were recommended! Waiting on my leaf litter to deliver in the mail but have added Sphagnum moss in the meantime to assist CUC with moist areas and some hiding spots.
Plants: I have a mix of Dracaena, Echeveria, Peperomia, and Trailing Elephant bush (all confirmed safe on the Arid plants list!). I have added plants to different sides of the enclosure and am waiting to see how they react to lighting, heat, humidity, etc. If these don’t work I’m also starting my propagating process with some duplicates I bought so if something goes wrong I can replant some replacements in different areas of the enclosure!
Hides: I have a mix of hides from Miso’s original starter kit and added a few more since then. I have a main humid, 3 cool hides (one is technically drift but he enjoys digging under, also noticed he enjoys his cooler side more until he’s close to his shed time), 2 hot hides, water dish on the warmer end to help keep humidity levels stable (as it’s dry where I live). Otherwise I have a cork and another driftwood.
plants grow / thrive on a different spectrum the what UVB is
