im calling a local vet right now
Definitely ask about those head motions too. Those don’t look normal to me either
is there a specific thing you think if wrong?
Has your leo had a recent fall
yes actually he tends to fall a lot because he is missing a lot of claws
I can’t say anything specific but issues like that could be an internal injury or even neurological
we are going to take him to the vet asap
Do you have an ER nearby?
we have an exotics vet about 30 mintus
Are they open 24 hours? I would classify this as an emergency
yes i think they take emergencies my mom called beforehand
thank you so much ill update afterwards
Oh, i hope the lil guy is okay.
I hope you get some answers
he is currently with the vet and they suspect a spinal injury but they are going to take an xray to make sure
I’m crossing my fingers for you! Im glad you were able to get him in so fast
the vet says he can actually move his legs but is choosing not to because he is in pain, they are going to give us anti inflammatories to help any swelling and pain
xray finished! he has a minor spinal dislocation and hes been started on anti inflammatories and will be given them once a day
do they know how he may have dislocated it?
Poor thing! Hope it resolves soon
And while he’s recovering I suggest removing anything that is a fall hazard so he doesn’t continue to cause trauma to the injury.
I also want to suggest removing the shelf liner and replacing it paper towel. Even non-adhesive shelf liner produces gasses when exposed to high temperatures. When he’s recovered I recommend using a soil and sand mix. It will be a softer landing if he does fall again. I’ll drop !substrate for you for additional reading. I hope all goes well for your Leo!
