#is she underweighted?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
the angle is a bit weird but from what i can see she is okay for a 7 month old
babies tend to be lankier and some geckos also are just on the smaller size
can i see her in ur hand pls?
I kept trying to lure her out but she's not coming out
This is what I took yesterday i think
Plus i have been annoying her moving decorations around so she never came out until now i shouldnt touch the enclosure unless i feed her or clean it 😭😭😭
ah you need to bond with her to trust you in her eyes your a big thing trying to get her
shes looks okay just like Peachy said shes hack bc babies tend to be lankier but as they get older they get bigger
I eye contacted her for minute and put her back to enclosure as she stepped back in her wet hide rip
I have question about temperature
go ahead
Can you share the temperature you manage
On daylight and night?
For ambient temperature?
I felt temperature is important for gecko and my cage temperature is 23.5 for ambient temperature should I raise more to 27
Celsius
on cool side is should be 21 to 25c but hot end should be 30 to 33c
any more questions? about ur leo while ur here
Yeah since i stressed her out and not coming out for a day should I just leave her until she get used to the environment
I have been around that cage sooo many times lol
🥲
yes u can but may i see her enclosure?
For sure
thanks
ill repsond in around 10 minutes just need to do somthing
In middle is ambient temperature measurement that I rely on tbh
Do you think temperature is low?
Do note that bonding takes time and it’s not gonna be an instant thing. Also if you just got her don’t handle her for 2 weeks and let her settle In. New environments are stressful.
When you can get a digital thermo/hygro for each side as you will need to track each ambient and humidity level to make sure your gradient is okay. (Can be a bit harder to achieve in a 20 but it can be done!)
The shopping list has a checklist you can print out and keep track of what you’ve gotten and still need to get for your little one since I know you also don’t have a thermostat atm
back
they need two sides like all reptiles cold side and hot side hot side need to be 30 to 33 and cold side 21 to 25
Without having them on each side It’ll be kinda rough to know what your actual ambient gradient is
as the analog ones in the back are not the best.
@teal dove it'ss better off getting a thermostat reptile
Well that one is a thermometer
no i said it worng
They just need a second one
no i meant a thermostat
yes i dont even own an leopard but i have alot of experience with reptiles
all of what you’ve said so far is correct so
ah my experience have paid of 😄
Thanks for helping me :))) then i will buy another thermostat so i can check both on hot and cold side right?
no no a thermostat is not the same ill tell u what it is
Let me search that
okay so
the two plugs where u plug in the uva and the uvb bulbes/ fittings and then u can controll the temp using that so it be easier to controll the temp etc
(Just putting it here for reference)

@teal dove
Thermostat : regulates / controls your heat source so it does not get too hot and hurts your animal , malfunctions or cause a fire
Thermometer: measures air temperature
Simply put
💖
Ohhh okay so this thermostat regulates the heat as I set the desired temperature?
Yep !
yes
Thermometer is what i have rn
am from england
Yeah I live in US!
ah ur asking bruni dad my bad
I was going to buy more decoration lol i should buy thermostat first
On the us section there are I think 4 thermostat options for you to pick and choose from based on price c: iirc you got a dimming dome when you upgraded so you can get the on/off thermostat if you’re tight on money rn! If not you can invest in one of the dimming options
I would personally get the thermostat first yes
yes the thermostat is a much better option then a thermometer
Thankful that I didnt waste money since thermometer is also useful
Without thermostat rn if i want to make enclorsure temperature ideal, should I manually set the ambient temperature to in range from 24C to 27C by putting the thermometer in middle?
As of now this is the best way i can set the temperature
You would also be messing with your basking spot.
The hottest spot, where your gecko will bask and soak up warmth you want it to be 34-37c surface temperature wise not air temp wise so
Also do note the middle is going to be cooler then the hot side and a bit warmer the cool side because it is the middle
Got it
I personally would put the thermometer over on the hot side for now
That way you can monitor that side’s ambients atleast
Oh okay to check the hot side temperature more accurate since hot side is the main heat source
Mhm
It won’t track your basking temperature / surface temperature sadly but you will atleast know if the hot side is getting to the right air temps
Do you have a temperature gun? (It’s a little tool you point at the surface and it will tell you what the temperature is!) i’m not all sure what you got the other day
I just have thermometers, one that is like walmart quality one and digital one that i showed on pisciture
Sadly i dont have that temperature gun
Xd
due to space for me i had an 4x2x2 for m y beared dragon his is 5 years old now he his an 3 foot viv but he has the right heat etc and he normaly like to stay in one space and i noticed he gets stressed with to much space so i got him an 40 gallon but still sad tho that i had to down size
Yeah as I got my gecko i put her in plastic cage for turtle and noticed she tried to escape from there badly so bought her 20 gallon tank rn
i see and ill reccomend get some substrat for ur gecko
paper towl ehh is not the best option u can get some tile etc but ill reccomend coco fiber substarte
For the first 2-3 months quarantine is required
So paper towel is fine in the time and is what we recommend 💖
Thats what i read on the substrate guide
Cocofiber is also not safe for leopard geckos on their own
Yep you’re doin it right!
It’ll come in time c:
i was js abt to say to mix it 50% and 50% sand
Just gotta 100% make sure your little one is healthy and happy before moving them to loose substrate.
And cocofiber can be added to a mix for humidity issues but not as a main additive :0! Organic Topsoil and sand is what we recommend mixing here to get the best texture / consistency for Leos
Gotta get the thermostat asap so i dont walk around every 10 minutes to check on temperature
Yep!
!shoppinglist
There’s an on/off one on Amazon on the list if that’s easier for you rn c:
and aslo when you're gecko gets older etc i recommend getting some logs for litte hides
if u dont have any arealdy
peachy please tell me if this is correct or not
It is! After getting all the tech sorted decor can come
But I am 100% for corkbark tubes and driftwood and decking it out in clutter
yes 100%
my bearedie loves his corkbark tubes 😄
100% im adding more hide nqa :))) i really wanna make my enclousure half jungle half dessert
this is an leopard gecko habbit
These took me 2 years to perfect and get the way I want lol. So it will all come and your little one will have a tank of happiness

there so cooll!!! btw do u have any beared dragons?
I do not! Just leos and some isopods
ahh i see am going to create a nice habbit for my scorio maurus need to get some good pictures of him
Oh nice 👀
xd
aslp peachy may i ask how do you apply for staff
Staff roles aren't applied to qvq I was asked by staff to be apart of it. you can apply for QA roles though! which you would do through modmail C:
