#herpstat 2 won't come to temperature

How far is the distance to the basking spot as well, and is there any substrate (or things like slate or stone) beneath the basking spot? Sometimes it's hard to get temperatures to retain :[
Bumping to 94 would do just fine fkdjfjd
but i like it warm and toasty
in a 40gal at least it makes for a nice basking gradient
So does 96
but 94 also can get hotter in some spots then what it is set to so
true, my herpstat is set at 97f with my halogen and the basking spot varies from low 90s to 100f depending on where you measure temps at
the tank is a 36 x 18 x 18
no obstruction to the basking spot, it was fine before
i know 90 is too low
i set it to 95 and it went up to 87
so the herpstat saying the power was 100% is... lying
a lot of people have struggled with dhps getting up to temps in the winter, you aren't the only one
this is a new issue. last winter there was no problem
it could get past 90 easily
and this just started happening a couple weeks ago
hmm. now that i think about it, the tank i had last winter was a 36 x 12 x 18, so the distance from the basking spot was a little closer. that doesn't explain why it seems to scale with the temp i set it at but still doesn't reach it??
like it was 80 at 90, i raised it to 95 and it raised to 87 like... huh?
Get a stronger bulb.
Also insulate your tank.
Glass tanks with screen tops have a hard time holding temperature because they vent heat so fast.
i really don't think that's the solution unfortunately
have you tried the bulb without the stat just to see if it is maybe a faulty bulb? or a stat setup issue?
