I bought my gecko and it's coming this Thursday from kawaii geckos. And I'm fiddling with the heat stuff and I can't get it over 88f. I have a dimmable dome a dhp and a thermostat. The thermostat is set to 96f and the dimmer is all the way up and it still won't get high anyone please help?

The 88F you're seeing is the ambient air temperature (according to your last picture), which is fine. The 96F refers to the temperature on the basking spot itself (which can be measured with an IR temperature gun)

As long as your thermostat probe is on your basking spot and is measuring ~96F at the spot, the air temperature of 88 that you're showing in the last picture is within a good range!

Should I buy a heat gun would that help?

It's useful for making sure the basking spot is the correct temperature, I believe they're on the shopping list if you're looking for brands

Definitely recommended with the dimming dome setup so you can know what temperature your basking spot is and adjust accordingly if needed 👍

If it makes you feel any better, my ambients are also around 88 right now :-)

But yeah, I'd get a heat gun so you can check your basking spot surface and you should be all set

It is pretty close to the heat "cone" created by the fixture, when I had another older thermometer and had it placed further away it was definitely a little lower lol
