Do leopard geckos usually stop eating or slow their metabolism around this time of year? My Leo hasn't lost any weight yet goes at least a whole week or close to a week without eating and he seems very bright and alert whenever he's out, I try not to take him out too much since my apartment does get slightly cold but I try to keep his enclosure at the right temperature all the time and since he is always hidden or curled up in his hides

NQA yes we are in their usual brumation period so most stop being as active and will eat less however feeding adults once a week is standard anyways and yours to me looks like it could use a tiny bit of dieting

how much/how often were you feeding him before? many adult geckos only eat once a week so I wouldn't say that is out of the normal range. He is quite overweight and could use some restrictions like Silver said.

Another brumation question - my leo went into his shedding hide two weeks ago and has not come back out. I lift the lid of the hide every couple of days to check on him and he blinks at me and seems fine

#

But he hasn't come out to eat, and my understanding is that pushing food is bad during brumation because the food can rot.

Any advice? He's a little over a year old now, big for a standard morph but not chonky, in a 20 gallon long tank with heat and light on a timer.

as long as the heat is up and running, you can offer food. some experienced keepers turn the heat off during winter and that’s when you shouldn’t feed

if he isn’t rapidly losing weight, he’s fine and just doing his thing heartpink

ok gotcha! I'd try offering food once a week from now on, as well as try to offer a healthy variety adding in crickets, locusts, black soldier fly larvae, silkworms etc. wherever you can!

he is a chonky lad and as temperatures cool down they can definitely start to eat less! double check your heating and lighting with the !guide and if hes not rapidly losing weight or being lethargic, I wouldn't worry too much
