I'm kind of wanting to build a fairy house-themed enclosure for Nemo now and was wondering what sort of materials are safe for geckos and what to avoid...

Slate, driftwood, cork bark, ceramic stuff without glitter that’s been properly cleaned. Leaf litter too. A topsoil/playsand mix is a good substrate and pretty cheap

Would eco-friendly resin be ok?

trim pelican
#

That is a good question

#

I have never used that

shadow nova
#

I would worry about resin potentially off gassing under heat and stuff

#

In terms of wood make sure any wood you use is hardwood and not softwood sparkleeyes

That’s the most widely available and used moss but I believe you can use peat moss as well

shadow nova
#

I’m not too sure as I don’t dabble with moss

uncut vine
shadow nova
# uncut vine did they get back to you

In terms of like other moss- you could possibly try to get some to grow on the cool side but that stuff is typically more for tropical environments /not really arid setups like Leos are in annnd peat moss has ethical / environmental issues so it’s not really recommended to just go out and buy I believe :0

#

If you meant like live moss anyways

uncut vine
#

okay

#

Does other moss cause issues?

shadow nova
#

I’m not much of a plant person so I’m double checking on this but I think Spanish moss can be used KEK Hearts sparkleeyes

It’s the pretty hanging long moss

That’s a bulb and dome / lamp

#

And the clamp lamp part doesn’t have to be attached

#

It just comes with the dome

#

C: you can just set the dome on top of the lid of the tank

#

Like dis

uncut vine
#

Oh okay, so the repta-clamp dimmer just goes on top

shadow nova
#

Ye

uncut vine
#

How do you dim the heat projector with the repta clamp dimmer

shadow nova
#

It’ll have a dial on it

#

The dome comes with the dimmer switch / dial c:

uncut vine
#

Sorry if it sounds stupid to ask this, I have just never used these

shadow nova
#

So you plug the dome into your thermostat that’s set to the temp you want

#

And then you use the dial on the dome to dim it

#

shadow nova
#

Like dis

uncut vine
#

Oh interesting

#

Thanks for explaining :)

shadow nova
#

Np!

uncut vine
#

Just got a UVB...package looked a little torn up...the light does not even work :(

crude comet
#

Did you set up your timer?

#

Bc if your timer is set to be off rn, it won't turn on

#

Try plugging it into a normal outlet rn

uncut vine
#

I don’t have the timer yet I just plugged it into a normal outlet

#

I contacted zoomed for a replacement

crude comet
#

Hmmm, weird

uncut vine
#

How does it look so far? (its not finished Im gonna add calcium dish and the thermostat)

#

@shadow nova I want your input because you helped me pick out the stuff

shadow nova
#

Lookin lovely so far!

shadow nova
#

94-96!

!heating

crude comet
#

The first graphic has heating info!!! Just at the top there :) NQA NQA

shadow nova
#

It’s a little outdated in terms of the heat spot

#

90-93 is a litttle too low for them basking spot wise now we’ve come to find :3

crude comet
#

What should it be in celcius?

#

Actually I should probably just change my thermostat to f lol

#

It'd be easier

shadow nova
#

34-35 c is what we suggest but you can do a little higher as well c:

#

Like if you set it to 97 / 36 it wouldn’t harm them

crude comet
#

Imma go change my thermostat then

uncut vine
#

Im having trouble with either the heating on the reader :(

crude comet
#

Mines flashing lol

uncut vine
#

Mine wont change from 77

crude comet
#

hmmm weird

uncut vine
#

I plugged my heat lamp into the thermostat and theres not heat coming from it ?!

shadow nova
#

Did you turn the dimming dial on your dome to on

uncut vine
#

Yeah

shadow nova
#

It will indeed not put any heat out if it is on the off option /lh

uncut vine
#

Its on

shadow nova
#

Hmmmm

crude comet
#

Is your thermostat on a timer?

#

Like plugged into a timer

uncut vine
#

I have it manually set up

crude comet
#

So there's no timer?

uncut vine
#

No? I dont think so

crude comet
#

Like your thermostat is just plugged into the wall

uncut vine
#

Plugged into an extension cord

#

But its working

#

Thermostat works fine

#

Displays temp

shadow nova
#

I’m askin in QA chat about them since I haven’t used one personally so ElmoReee

crude comet
#

Did you set your temp?

uncut vine
#

So I have a Flunkers dimmer dome over a DHP bulb and the dimmer dome is plugged into the thermostat

uncut vine
#

Do you think its that?

crude comet
#

Well if you didn't program it, I don't think it'll put off heat?

uncut vine
#

OH I SEE THE ISSUE

#

The heater temp is set to 78

#

or 77

#

the heat device turns off when it reaches that temp

#

im dumb

crude comet
#

Why would it turn off tho?

shadow nova
#

It’s an on/off

#

If it gets over the set temp it will turn off

crude comet
#

Oh

uncut vine
#

I see

#

Okay and Im having an issue understanding these programming instructions

uncut vine
#

help

shadow nova
#

Yeh :3

#

My night time temp is set to 65 cus my room doesn’t ever drop below that / if it does it’ll turn on but if you wanted to you could do like 70

uncut vine
#

I had it to 94 and started smelling a weird smell so I just shut it off :(

shadow nova
#

That’s normal

#

Bulb has never been used before

uncut vine
#

Ah okay

shadow nova
#

It’ll go away but it’s night time so Hearts you can leave it off if it’s not cold (below 65 f) in your house

uncut vine
#

Im worried about leaving it on when Im at work

#

Oh its fine in the house

#

I live in California so I usually dont worry about him getting too cold
