#substrate moving

if the gecko does eat a little it would be fine, as long as you have good husbandry theres nothing to worry about. Also, they dont really eat sub most of the time
nqa yes but i'd suggest keeping him on paper towel for another month
I agree, iirc quarantine should last at least 2-3 months. you can get the substrate all mixed up and ready in another tub if you'd like in the meantime! And double check the !guide to make sure everythings on par :) but what you said sounds good. the basking spot could be a little hotter (maybe 96F) but you have a good variety in diet and hides which is great!
of course a 36x18x18 would be more ideal in terms of space
in another post they said their mom wont let them upgrade
oh gotcha, thats too bad. everything else sounds great though 👍 just double check your supplement schedule and basking temps/heat sources by referencing the guide and u should be good to switch after quarantine
Do you have overhead heating?
ingesting sub is a little bit more of a concern on a heat mat compared to a halogen or dhp
since you've had them a month I'd do another month or two of paper towel for qt. Your gecko should not ingest a large amount of substrate if they are otherwise healthy and a small amount should be easily passed with good husbandry esp diet/heating
how did you come to that conclusion? is the sphagnum moss in a hide?
so your humid hide?
I'd check your tank's ambient humidity
my guess would be your humidity is too low or he's about to shed
IM talking about the humidity in your tank
not the humid hide
do you have a hygrometer to check that?
so I'd get that soon,
personally I'd mist a little bit as to me that indicates that the humidity is too low for them at this specific time
I'd guess he may be about to shed or maybe he just wants higher humidity for a bit
reptiles get a lot of their hydration from feeders and humidity rather than drinking so if it's too low he'll seek out more humid spots to avoid being dehydrated
good luck!
would you be willing to show the tank setup/hides? i wouldn't say that indicates hes in pain, but rather that thats the hide he is most comfortable in
does the humid hide happen to be the most dark/enclosed inside?
love
