You could try several steps:
- Make sure you meet the minimum requirements and are not using an integrated graphics card
- Unplug any other unnecessary USB devices, restart and see if this allows you into the game
- Disable Steam (and possibly other) overlays
- Restart the game as administrator
- Make sure your PC's system time is set correctly to your timezone
- Do a complete reinstall by also deleting the hidden folder in C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\Total Mayhem Games\We Were Here Expeditions The FriendShip
