The relationship between two of my OCs is Wilder/Mauler ||actually Wilder/Graveborn, but the GB was a Mauler||, but the Mauler in question was already in exile, so it was a bit easier to leave the Maulers in her case.

Do you guy notice that each of the 4 factions has its own unique magic? Lb use Holy Light.Maulers use voodoo spell. Wilders use nature magic. And Gb use necromancy.

Hmm. Well, Numisu uses voodoo, but the other maulers basically natural born predators. He's basically a witch doctor. I think that's not really different from what Belinda does. Belinda honors the 'holy light'. Numisu respects spirits and harnesses their power for good.

So its like idk. It sounds almost the same to me because they harness power from a source that is 'higher' than them

Its kinda interesting that seperately they are kinda their own world and manage well on their own

We do know that maulers and lightbearers have a war, but wilders and graveborn seem to just have their own motives and not seek out war against others

Wilders want to protect the forest against hypogeans
Graveborn have their own individual motives, usually revenge

Obviously, only a selected few maulers practice voodoo spell, more specifically numisu and satrana since they live in the temple of the seers. Likewise, the ones that practice divine magic are members of the order of the light.

And voodoo spells do seem different than divine magic. For example, witchdoctor is able to communicate with ancient soul. Another example is voodoo spells allow users to direct flames.

Lightbearers tend to harness the holy light or divine magic.
The Mauler mages dont all use voodoo magic for theres Safiya who uses her staff but her magic doesnt look like voodoo magic so its rlly unknown
And graveborns arent all necromancers just a few have that ability the rest tend to use the power of the arcane I think

Mauler mythic furniture does include voodoo equipment, so the average Mauler probably has at least some minor day-to-day uses for it.

For some it makes sense (it's really not much of a stretch to headcanon Vurk being a full-on alchemist/potionmaker, for instance), but for a lot of them it's pretty surprising. Like, I can't imagine what the heck someone like Warek would want with one.
