Though I personally believe that this series of awakened heroes will have Eironn for the Wilders. They made him SUPER present with an amazing animation in the Order and Chaos cinematic and released Atheus as a lore companion character for him. (Like they did with Nevanthi > Baden, Anasta > Brutus, Erorin > Solise etc.)

I like both ideas but for different reasons

I like the idea that Adrian specifically sought out Silas since he is a metallurgist and has worked with granting new bodies or enhancing bodies before, so it adds a bit of more lore credibility to Silas’s work ?? in a way (the same way Izold and that one chicken do)

But I’m also in love with an alternative idea where Adrian learned necromancy specifically so he could bring Elyse back since that fits the romance trope in a way (since that is a romance trope a bit, like going to through hell just to get your lover back from the dead. Orpheus and Eurydice but successful, basically)

Either way I’m not against either option or any other one

But I find it curious how it details the spirit but not Elyse’s name as the spirit, so part of me wonders if that spirit is even Elyse at all, or someone pretending to be Elyse

Some get a more twisted, or darker version of their own personality. It's why Baden is so interesting, as it seems this was deliberately instilled in him once he was resurrected. Makes me think if the personality change some experience, like say Thoran, is partly due to the necromancer reviving them. In this case Quaedam, who is far more powerful and likely better at overpowering whatever previous personality was there

and the personality of the graveborn could reflect their final moments in life, be simply overpowered by the Necromancers wishes, or be the same, depending on how skilled the Necromancer is/was (and I add this last point bc Niru necromancied Shemira and she seems to retain a lot of her original personality)

Of course people w red flags and way too possessive tendencies exist, and I don’t know Adrian’s character enough to say if that is or is not a thing he has a history of, but with the information I do know, I’d put my money probably on love and grief.

Grief and bad mental health can turn you into someone you don’t recognize, a monster in the mirror. For some people, it’s vengeance that they become, the beast of grudge. For others, like Adrian, it’s delusion, the beast of dreams. In delusion, people won’t be ready to let go, even to the detriment of the ones they are refusing to let go of.

I believe Adrian is falling to delusion due to the fact he had the option to get Elyse back, and he was so desperate to, that he has deluded himself into the idea that this is fine because if it isn’t, then he went through everything for nothing and everything he’s done has been for Absolutely Nothing, because nobody is happy with the arrangements at hand. Which is a hard reality for people to face, ngl.

Love helps in that its not good or bad, we often romanticize love a lot but it really is a neutral thing, but it simply twists and changes someone depending on the state of their mental health, and in this case, with grief already knocking at Adrian, it’d be likely to twist into desperation since his love for Elyse means living in a world without her would be too painful to live in
