For a hypo to become celestial though, hypos are either turned mortals or beings that are like, the embodiment of negative emotions/concepts. Idk if a naturally born hypogean could become something else without completely destroying themself

The reason why it's more likely for one to switch to another is that hypos are kind of an umbrella term for evil gods and demons. They want their numbers to grow, and having a celestial turned hypo would be a big win for them.
Celestials on the other hand is kind of like a god vip club, either you're already a god affiliated with Honas and Dura, or you're deified by the celestials. But the thing is they very much want it to stay and exclusive vip club, and for none of the gods to tarnish their pristine reputation
That's why the whole era of man-gods happened, because they didn't want mortals to stand equal to them
So the requirements for becoming a celestials are so much stricter than the other way around
If you're a hypo already affiliated with Lutos then that's like, a BIG no. That's what happened with Uemiss when he became too powerful, and the gods waged war on him.
Ok so this actually makes me think about Audrae, and how she's an interesting concept. She's a celestial, and an embodiment of chaos so to speak. And that's interesting because chaos is Lutos' whole thing. So in a sense, Morael and Audrae resemble Honas and Lutos to an uncanny degree, but Audrae is still very much one of the good guys

Prolly woukd be difficult as gods and holy powers and what not but it could wear down the host like lucy beating the shit out of zaph...im sure a hypo could control the celestial host at that point....but at the same time....is it like a angel sorta situation where the host accept the spitit into thier body...in the case of lucy and mezoth.

I think that depends on the hypo tbh. There's endless possibilities since there are so many different kinds of hypos. The rules of one might not apply to another, so sure, there might be hypos that can forcibly take control of a host, since we have several mind-control hypos.

I could see another concept of a Celestial being absorbed into a hypo, but their divine essence constantly trying to escape, so they are basically a ticking time bomb where if somebody does manage to slay that hypogean, the divine energy of that absorbed celestial is freed or something, but tainted in a way?

And the ones who are made into celestials are pretty exceptional mortals, and manipulating them is probably not something a hypo can do

im coming into the discussion way after the fact but re: celestials being controlled, it's worth pointing out that celestials=/=gods. it's stated in story that hypos could never win against gods, but celestials specifically are what the gods became after having their power diminished and becoming demi-gods. having lost a lot of their divinity/power after the barred gate was opened, they may be more susceptible to Stuff than they once were.

so at the end of the first hypogean war, dura used her power and the power of the astral key (a special item made by honas to seal lutos) to seal the majority of the hypogeans into a "dimensional rift." which was the barred gate
doing that used up most of her mojo, so soon after that she died
there was a sort of contract/promise/mission dura entrusted to the remaining gods, that being that they protect the barred gate to make sure it wasn't unsealed and the hypogeans unleashed
but after 1600 years or so the gods got complacent, and at a critical moment khazard and uemiss were able to break the gate open
since the gods failed to uphold their mission, they were punished and demoted from gods to demi-gods
(the astral key is the ultimate objective of the hypogeans, so dura broke it up into the 7 artifacts so uemiss couldnt get his tentacly hands on it)
also the barred gate being unsealed is what led to (some of) the dimensionals showing up in esperia.

elemental guardians in particular are frequently mentioned as choosing their allegiance, and as explicitly not inherently belonging to any particular group. Seirus actively chooses to be wilder after making wilder friends. Granit explicitly chooses first the wilders, and then the maulers
Respen and Nevanthi's faction allegiance is never mentioned and almost sort of feels like they're just Wilders because they have to have a faction to be in the game
especially Nevanthi who upon emerging from her forest essentially tries out humanity (lightbearers) and rejects them. for some reason despite all her traveling of the world and looking for an allegiance, she's never mentioned as trying to spend time living with Wilders or Maulers. she tries humanity and gives up and chooses the natural world until she runs across the tainted and chooses to associate with them. the only reason she really isn't a graveborn is because the graveborn is actually treated as an inherent way of being that you cannot choose to leave. and that you cannot choose to become without actually transforming into the undead
despite being essentially birthed by the forest and spending an enormous amount of her time in the forest she's never even mentioned as spending time with any Wilders
and yet they give her it as a factional allegiance for some reason with the sort of feels less like lore and more like game mechanism

The reason why elemental guardians are alligned with the Wilder faction isn't because of the type of forest/surf elemental magic, but rather that the Wilders are close to elemental magic in general. The elemental temples and altar are under Wilder jurisdiction. That doesn't mean the guardian has to be Wilder ofc.
Since the elemental temples are found in the Bastion of the Elements, and that falls under Wilder territory, characters like Nevanthi for example being of the Wilder faction is likely due to this.
That's why the new guardian being a Wilder by default is most likely, unless they explicitly changed allegiance to the Maulers

Yeah, tbh I don't think there's a clear way to establish what makes a character a certain faction. Some have more clear rules like celestials and graveborn, but there are many grey zones and bleeding edges.
