Notes
Thoran - 9 reduces retry RNG; I advocate going for early event 5* Call frags (after Rowan and 2 carries' +30s). If you're willing to put up with more retries, then stop at 3.
Alna - 9 deserves red cards but the problem is that she's usually the second celepog for beginners (Lucretia is usually first to be done). This means you'll only get her to Ascended after about 1 year of playing, hence her "low" priority.
If you eventually gain an interest in competitive AE (Top 100 ranks) and/or PVP, ask other people for recommendations. This guide does not focus on those.

odens there to tp the horse away, or else she steps on me and i die, rowans doing a nice job at dodge tanking so hes frontline and naras there to stop fawkes from bolting daimon in but miraels ult usually gets me after horsegirl stuns daimon

Overall you want to focus on the first group of heroes (the priority ones), before moving on to the 2nd and 3rd group, etc. - Group 1 > Group 2 > Group 3 > ...
I would not get stars on anyone (carries) until you have aleast 8/8 copies of the priority heroes (The first group of heroes) - Max 2 spots on WL for stars, after priorities
I would keep scrolling GB until you have the priority ascended (The first group of heroes, the 6 GBs) - once you have 8/8 copies of the priority GBs, you can use the cards on wilders, but keep scrolling GB for fodder

Notes
Thoran - 9 reduces retry RNG; I advocate going for early event 5* Call frags (after Rowan and 2 carries' +30s). If you're willing to put up with more retries, then stop at 3.
Alna - 9 deserves red cards but the problem is that she's usually the second celepog for beginners (Lucretia is usually first to be done). This means you'll only get her to Ascended after about 1 year of playing, hence her "low" priority.

Wukong is definitely a safe bet for a first build, after that I’d say Respen or Rowan. If you want more damage go for Respen, but if you need more support for your frontline I’d go with Rowan.

Yeah early on you just need to pump everything into a carry, in your case it's Wukong until he hits Lv100, he's useless after that

Don't Enhance Gear btw, you only Enhance Mythic Gear with a Faction bonus

Focus on levelling your fodders according to the guide, Mirael will be your carry until Lv160. Arden for CC (can switch to Ferael at Lv141), Golus would probably be your frontline tank in the meantime until you unlock Brutus at Ch14. Raku is a very solid carry but only with some investment, so I wouldn't worry about him too much for now until you get more copies of him

(I can't stress enough btw - read all the guides in #classic-questions cause they're the optimized way to play through the first 160 levels)
