I got lucky with 28-40 tbh. Same team in the pic in this order: Arthur Rowan / Albedo Talene Ainz. I set up a macro and after something over 100 tries, I got the win.

I see no hint of that victory with any setup I have atm for 28-58.

Normal teams typically beat 28-58 at a team power of over 7M. 😂 It's a miracle I got this far in a day. I even subbed in E Alna for some stages.

Try replacing Lyca with Ferael and moving Tasi to the frontline, that would give you more CC that might RNG you with more time

I would give the pins in #classic-questions a read though, and also try pulling Daimon if possible as a carry or alt Belinda/Shemira is you think that's out of the question to get a good mid-game carry since your current heroes don't really fill that role

But if a hero takes damage > 10% of their max HP a skill might get interrupted.

Also a trick is that if you're losing a battle in Peaks of Time, Voyage of Worlds or Labyrinth you can press the menu and then exit and the battle would stop and your heros wouldn't lose health

First of all, you should stop ascending heroes to L. You should ascend a hero to L only if you have enough fodder to ascend them directly from E+ to L+. Otherwise you are wasting resources.
Then you should focus on ascending only 5 heroes because you need to reach crystal level 240 as fast as possible. The most optimal way to progress fast through the early chapters is asceding 2 LBs, 1 Wilder, 1 Mauler and 1 GB.
Most heroes work pretty well during early-mid game. Some heroes can even work at lower ascensions like Cecilia, Brutus, Lyca, Rosa, Lorsan, etc.
You should have a good wishlist, you can basically ascend first any hero you get enough copies. You just need 1 good carry (like Daimon or Eironn) in your lineup.
The most useful heroes of each faction are... LB: 1-Rowan, 2/3-Rosa/Gwyn, 4-Estrilda, 5-Fawkes. Mauler: 1-Safiya, 2/3/4-Skreg/Skriath/Tidus, 5-Numisu. Wilder: 1-Eironn, 2-Tasi, 3-Lyca, 4-Saurus, 5-Nemora/Pippa/Gorvo. GB: 1-Daimon, 2-Ferael, 3-Thoran, 4-Nara, 5-Silas
