yep, 4f heroes are graveborns, maulers, wilders and lightbearers
diamonds are used for multiple stuff, buying your daily shop, fast rewards, rerolling bounty board, pulling on HCP, pulling on the stargazer (where you can target pull celestials and hypogeans and wokes once they've reached ascended)
entering some guild related game-modes, buying tickets for specific gamemodes, etc...

once you've pulled 10 meta 4f to ascended (or 1*, not sure about that), you can start saving your diamonds for the stargazer (unlocked at chapter 16-4 iirc)
a 10 pull on the stargazer either costs 10SG (specific currency for pulling celhypos) or 5000 diamonds if you're out of SGs
you should always save ~500SGs before pulling on the stargazer, unless some units are still insanely good at 1 copy

yeah that's because of how the pity and the average cards used per copy works, it's been calculated that on average, it'll cost you ~500 SG/TE to pull a unit from scratch to 1*, the reason we ask new players to save them before pulling is that those units can become outdated in between the moment you start pulling them and the moment where they're fully built
so if you refrain from pulling whenever you have SGs and instead wait until you're fully stocked up, you'll have a full view of the meta at that specific moment, so you can either fully pull the unit, or the new one that's better

Usually the first 1-4 celepogs you build you can rush. They’re just a notch over the rest.

It would be really hard for the top 4 celepogs rn becoming outdated soon. If some celepog would become outdated, it wouldn’t be the top 4, it’d be top 8-10

Once early game resources slow down significantly , that’s mid game. But you can rush a lot at the beginning.
