The game tends to funnel players into thinking they need good tanks, which usually is not the case.

Due to the way deficits work, any pure tank will eventually becone obsolete in campaign because they will be one shot anyway. Immunity or dodge tanks, or heavy damage reduction is better.

But even more than that many campaign teams focus on cc. Enemies that can't attack can't kill you.
