I disagree with this advice for your first character, even though this is the general rule of thumb. If you decide to pull wilders, you will get Lyca, Trish and Miskha regardless. I would definitely upgrade Miskha early

You do get stuck Xp wise and become underleveled. Alternatively you have to upgrade fodder to legendary for the xp. I completely agree with you in the general sense, but in the early game it's a little iffy
