In season 2 the frozen santuary nerfed my guilds damage because our teams were causing the boss' rage counter to increase too quickly, causing full team wipes 10 seconds into the battle. They weren't surviving long enough to do more damage.

People think it's less P2W because the player base is so small and you can be at the top in most game modes with little effort. The main problem is that the further you get, the fewer resources you get, since there are hardly any game modes. You're stuck with A5 heroes that aren't even SI10. You're flooded with gold, but there's hardly any use for it. Half the game needs to be reworked, but I highly doubt that will happen; interest in AFK Arena is generally too low.
