1. yes, staffs r expensive in shop. not recommended for f2p who havent achieved reso18.
2. people are holding em cause the incoming patches will include sweep to guarantee lvl 10 collection and adjust the stat drop rates. combining isnt recommended until u have excess amount of blues/purples.
3. depends on what stats i end up getting and what hero i want to equip the collection on. i try to avoid f.ers and f.buff for team wide stats.

Being rng and somewhat affected by knowledge makes it far easier for a f2p or otherwise weaker player to close some of the gap to stronger players

Can’t agree. Furn and engrave are way better than collections. You can at least get guaranteed furn and engrave for desired hero. This is just rng. You can get level skill up twice but no other mythic or you can get all other mythic needed for hero but no skill level.

the skill up stuff takes an already ehh amount of rng and just... exponentially increases it (and then it does it yet again with the 2nd skill up)

I currently have this equipped to my JoA but is there a better fit for it? I have most support heroes built except for Ivan, Mortas, and Talene. I do also have ASolise but I'm not sure that ERR is that good on her

ERR works well on smth like Joan that doesn't scale any stats

Alternatives are stuff like Twins, Nev, Merlin

Is the general consensus on collections to combine totems into purple and gold and not use blues, or to only use gold totems?

Ig combining is more useful after explore and custom scrolls get added
It's a pretty awful exchange rate though
