It’s probably mostly the pet. Their levels make a big difference in stats and abilities.

Some other differences we have:

Eorin’s 9f provides a 30% damage increase at first so that’s a good amount of burst damage.

Estrilda’a furniture also provided an atk/def buff.

Hosgkin’s furniture makes it so his soul siphon lasts and it starts doing damage + reducing the enemy’s atk / healing. His engraving is mostly to increase his insight so his status effects land in CR, I don’t know if that is or isn’t relevant here.

Since you are not yet reso18 with pets, it's tough to buy these regularly, but they are very important to improve collections in the long run. Maybe buy one each day while still buying baits

Work towards getting all kills first so you can get 100% of the quests, it's not an easy task

Choose your merc wisely though, especially when you get to the point of needing the merc for all kills
