I guess depends on where ( i'm a Japan noob) but from what I've seen in tokyo even Japanese menus do have prices on them

You have to care for some addition fees though like late fees or sitting feea

It's not that widespread and even when it's there, stealthy dual prices are not that common

What happens sometimes is the English menu prices are higher but there's no table charge. So it works out the same but it stops tourists getting mad about a table charge
