Hello @everyone last year someone made a spreadsheet for planning things. it worked out very well and was great for seeing where people are
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15c128ZQYqlzlU-47PTCHQ3HfzKgVtG7-KSwnm8CsX28/edit?usp=sharing
I have made a copy of it. The document is public so feel free to fill this in~
I look forward to hanging out with people next year ๐
I asked for access to the file!
cool ill fix so anyone can edit
pin it
Can't. I tried this last year ๐
I'm planning to arriving Nagoya at the 3rd and leaving Tokyo at the 16th.
Solo traveler, trying to be less introvert, second trip to Japan
Hello! I'll be in Tokyo from May 7th until the 21st! I'm a solo traveller from Finland and would be nice to meet up with a group of people at some point for something, maybe drinks or whatever. I've been to Japan a few times before but the last time was 2016 so it's been a long time. ๐
Obligatory Perkele. I will be at Tokyo for a couple days before leaving at the 16th. I'm up to a meet up
Also I'm Hungarian not Finnish. I got a couple online Suomi friends but aside of a couple words, I don't speak it!
Haha yeah I got that, perkele seems to be the one word people learn if they ever come accross a finn x)
That an Mitta Vittu. Its universal sometimes
Hello I am solo traveler from US that will be there from 15-28, in May. Iโm a gentle giant and excited to meet new friends.

Hey everyone! 29M from Denmark first time in Japan for a solo trip. Will land on may 6'th and depart may 25'th. Will travel through Tokyo, Kyoto, Kobe, Osaka and back to Tokyo. I enjoy sports, hiking, food, and entertainment! Just booked tickets for the Sumo wrestling tournament in CW 20 ๐
I plan on visiting one or two michelin restaurants, while in Tokyo, and would love to have some cool people to share the experience with! I signed up in the pinned Google sheet, but if anyone would be interested in planning a meetup for an evening with insane food, good wine/sake, and good times, then please send me a DM, and I'll do my best to arrange the practicalities! Expect it to be between May 6'th to 12'th ๐
Hey everyone! Iโll be going to Japan on May 19 - 26 beginning with Tokyo coming from the US. Iโll be coming with a friend (weโre both 26) but always willing to meet new people along the way! If youโre a foodie, weโll def get along haha!
hey, i'm coming back for a solo trip (again) pretty much most of may. will be based the majority of the time in tokyo, but looking into osaka & kyoto too. at the moment no set dates on where i'll be, but will update closer to the date ๐
also forgot to say, i am 28F. will be adding details to the spreadsheet
Hello Hello! I am quite excited, I will be in tokyo from May 11th through the 24th for my first time! I will be on a solo trip might look at others parts but unsure. I am 21 M and down to hang out with anyone! I'm interested in doing anything, very lenient haha.
Hi everyone, me and my girlfriend will be travelling Japan from April until June. Looking to hang out with other travellers while visiting different cities. Nice to meet you all
Hi all! I (27M) will be visiting Japan from May 11th to the 24th. Iโve already signed up on Google Sheets, but if anyone is interested in hanging out then feel free to shoot me a DM
Hey guys
I am (30F) going for the second time this year in May
My dates are 8-20 May
Starting from Tokyo
Will be doing Tohuku region followed by Toyama (probably) and then Shizuoka (will do if I cancel Toyama) and back again to Tokyo
Going solo so would love to meet people, chill and explore places
DM if your dates overlap
Hi, I'm 30M planning to go solo arriving in Tokyo on the 9th of May until 30th. Will be my first time in Japan. I'm Scheduled to be in Nikko and Kamakura as well in May. I don't have a busy itenerary set up so would be cool to meetup with anyone.
I'm 29M in Tokyo from 8th - 15th May - solo too, first time in Japan!
Hello everyone! I'll be making my way from Osaka to Tokyo from the 26th of Apr to the 7th of May, solo. Hoping to make a few friends along the way!
3 months till May
YESSIR
gonna be a sausagee FEST
Hiya ๐ 43M, Coming to Tokyo on 28th of Apr, staying in Japan until 11th of May (Golden week, I know). Third Japan trip, so now that I have done most of the 'must sees' I am looking for less touristy stuff... shrines and temples? some outdoors stuff? Not super interested in nightlife (also coming with my 16y.o. son), but otherwise we're ok with anything. Have not decided where to go yet (but most probably Tohoku or Chubu regions).
Hi 28M, coming to Tokyo solo 5/9-5/14 for the 5th time. Used this discord last time for meetups and had a bunch of fun. Interested in clubbing and bar hopping. Down for casual hangouts & dinners too. Feel free to add & dm. ๐
Slight update on my part, landing Osaka at 11th of May and leaving from Tokyo at 25th
I'm going to japan may 16-june 1st. Splitting time between tokyo, osaka and kyoto. Might go to hiroshima for a day if anyone plans to go during those days and want to hang out let me know. One day I'm going to disney sea and one other day is universal if anybody wants to tag along.
Hi, I (21M) will be there from April 29th to May 13th. Going solo and visiting for the first time so I'd love to meet up and explore with others. Still planning my itinerary but I'm thinking I'll be in Tokyo for the first 6 days or so
I'm about the same (28.04 - 11.05 in Japan and still planning). Flying in to Tokyo, but quite probably will escape Tokyo for the first days because of Golden Week.
Hey I'll be coming from April 20 to May 10, will mostly stay in Tokyo. Love anime/games, staying in akihabara most of the time.
Hey I mentioned this in #may but I am hosting two big live music events in the middle of the month
A spectacular and unique Japanese pop show in Shinjuku on the 15th, and an all-day punk festival in Shimokitazawa on the 17th
so please save the date if you're in Tokyo then. You won't regret it
@pallid depot dmd but you are private
dw things will ramp up real fast once may comes around ๐ซก
also i am v interested in more of the "weirder"/"niche" things in japan, so closer to the date we can organise if people are keen. not exhaustive list & i'm still searching for more, but things like:
- muscle girl bar (tokyo, was really fun when we went last time)
- poop museum (tokyo)
- child's perspective cafe (tokyo)
- maid cafe (if anyone feels too cringe/embarrassed to go alone but wants to go, i'll come along with)
i'm also keen for more of the normal/cuter things, like DIY makineko, temple/train station stamp hunting, various exhibits/museums like godzilla, world expo, etc. if anyone's interested, sound out, then we can do a head count closer to may ๐
Yeah Iโm planning to go to the muscle girl bar, Iโd be down for it and some other others ones
Iโd be down to take a look
100% down for world expo and poop museum lmao
Whatโs world expo?
expo in osaka they do it every 5 years
Looked it up a bit, thatโs really interesting
i'm down to do a muscle girl bar & maid cafe !
ez, at the moment i'll likely be in tokyo 3-11, then 18/19-25, so we can arrange dates then
i'll likely be in osaka around 12/13 may
Im going to half a dozen music events in the first two weeks of may. Anyone is welcome to come along

cool sounds good!
You can put the info about them in the spreadsheet (see pins)
This sounds amazing! My itinerary isnโt set in stone yet however I would love to try and meet up with you and others if possible! Also trying to find some less popular and niche locations over the more touristy areas ๐ญ
yeah, i mean the ones i've listed are definitely touristy lol i guess it depends on what sort of stuff you want?
like if it's more nature/traditional stuff, you can probably find that outside in the smaller towns of japan. anime stuff are likely to always be touristed
Iโm kind of an introvert, and ofc every known place in Japan is touristy, but I was more referring to hotspots such as Shibuya crossing or Tokyo tower as theyโre too crowded all the time
Up for the first 3. I arrive 17th. Dont front run all the activities lol
you might prefer osaka (excl dotonbori)/kyoto over tokyo then, tokyo was p crowded everywhere i went last time. but if you're okay with just walking from A to B + headphones or something, you should be fine
sure, we'll make a list of ppl interested & dates. could also do a separate thread entirely closer to the date so it's easier to keep track
btw for anyone who missed out on the meetup spreadsheet. i can't find pins on threads so idk if anyone else is able to either
i need more of this but havent been able to find anything yet
On mobile it's a bit dumb, you need to tap the thread name at the top > Settings > Pinned Messages
huh, thanks for letting me know, TIL
really dumb & discord should fix that sometime lol
What non-weeby things are there to do in Tokyo? haha
Lots of Music events to goto. What kind of music do you like?
Has anyone seen a baseball game at the Tokyo dome?
Yep. I have multiple times. You need to check the schdeule and buy through the website
there are so many, honestly i'd say food is a big thing, drinks if you're into that. karaoke, a huge cat cafe, temples, skytree, jimbocho (book town)
it depends on what exactly you're into, but my 50 year old (very much not-weeb) parents were able to thoroughly enjoy tokyo without having to encounter any weeb stuff (at least not by accident)
oh arcades too, that's always very fun
Going to be in Osaka from May 20th till the 26th and tokyo from 26th till first of june could meet up to haha
Hello! i hope everyone is well. I had to reschedule my flight but I will be in Tokyo from May 8th-26th I am able to hang out more! I hope to be able to meet some of yall!
Welcome, check the spreadsheet if you didn't already #1302999235121123328 message
I'll be in Tokyo from May 9th to May 11th ๐
Anyone want to do something not weeby with me between 8 and 15 May? ๐
what would qualify as not-weeby? ๐
non-anime related things I guess hahaha
or hyper-sexualised etc. just wanna do some cultural stuff and eat some good food
Live music isn't my jam for this
Missing out
Sounds fine to me
I asked because I am not a huge anime fan, but I am very much interested in Japanese culture, history, temples, etc. - and that theoretically falls under the definition of weeb ๐
Only if it's I guess...re-enacted? I'm interested in the culture, history, temples and shrines just not...in a greasy neckbeard way ๐
well, I'm in Japan from Apr 28 to May 11 with my 16yo son, on 8th we will be in Nagoya, on 9th we will transfer to Tokyo, on 10th we will do a daytrip to Kamakura (more temples than common sense, as someone here said) and on 11th we will do some Tokyo sightseeing before flying home in the evening
i'm going to try to do a goshuincho run, if you're interested
essentially you get a goshuincho (stamp book) that you present at shrines/temples, with a small fee they'll stamp it
each shrine/temple has their own special stamp, it's a good way to go around looking at different places
+1 for goshuin collecting... I got like 25 my last trip, but that was throughout like half of west Japan ๐
i don't think I'll get THAT many but I'll definitely try
i might keep a separate train stamp book too
its not 'might' - you have to
goshuin are considered sacred - if you put a station stamp in a goshuincho, temples will probably refuse to give you a stamp in that goshuincho
basically if you put anything other than a goshuin in a goshuincho, this is a big no-no
some people even go as far as having separate goshuincho's for buddhist temples and shinto shrines, but that is not required
i say might more as in i don't know if i want to do train stamps yet
i know about the goshuincho rules, but idk if i want to go train stamps too or if i would be chasing too many things at once
understood
I mean, I am using the trains anyway so getting the stamp is usually not that big of a time detour, usually a minute or two
although I have to admit I had an evening in Tokyo where we went with my kid and rode the Yamanote line specifically station by station only to get the stamps... we got like 10-12 of them and it was pretty fun ๐
I am collecting goshuins, gojoins (castle seals) and eki stamps - although just as a side-effect of being in a certain place, I wouldnt probably go totally out of my way just to get one
Hi all, I just booked my flight 10th may to 18 may. I have 2 core events on the 10th and 18th but otherwise free on the other days. Hope to meet new ppl
Oh damn. Wouldn't you have a massive jet lag when you arrive on the day as the event?
hmmm its an overnight flight arriving in the morning
Also Iโm only 1 hour behind Japan Timezone
Hey, I'll arrive in Osaka on May 2nd and move to Tokyo on May 8th until May 16th. Haven't really planned much yet besides the Osaka Expo and TeamLab, so feel free to hit me up! 26M from Germany.
we'll be in Tokyo from May 9th (evening) to 11th (flight home)... we'll be in Tohoku and then Nagoya before that. 43M + 16M from Poland
Gentleman. 70 days till May
I have a countdown timer on my phoneโฆ78 days to go
81 days here
7-11 onigiri, because we'll be on the run to the next train ride ๐
(and we are addicted to onigiri)
Iโd go for coco ichibanya or a steak but Iโm still looking for a hotel
I always just stay at apa
I always stay at akihabara Washington due to pricing but current price is not good Iโm still searching
I did as well until someone pointed out APA's owner's crazy propaganda, I haven't used APA since
if possible I would avoid it
yeah honestly i much prefer dormy inn or toyoko inn
Yeah I don't care tbh. I just want somewhere to sleep with a big TV for my steam deck ๐
Straight to Sushiro, near my hotel
I have a connecting flight so whatever in HND unfortunately, otherwise udon (or soba) after rental car collection
Hey everyone, I'll be in Japan May 18th to June 1st. Arriving and departing from Tokyo but not quite sure what my itinerary for cities is gonna be. All I know for sure is that I am going to be spending significant time in Tokyo but also making sure to hit Hiroshima (mostly for the atomic bomb memorial) and Osaka/Kyoto. Definitely interested in meetups if dates overlap!
Ramen ๐
These are mostly early May. Anyone know of any street festivals happening in the 2nd half of May in the Tokyo or Osaka/Kyoto areas?
There's a Ramen place inside Tokyo station that I enjoyed last time that may be my first stop this time for dinner after arriving on my way wherever I'm going.
thats for Kyoto - you can filter by prefecture and dates
Thanks
Second this, if you wouldn't stay at a Germany hotel that denies the Holocaust you shouldn't stay with APA.
I have announced my big event for May, please come check it out if you're here on the 14th ๐ #1342801246918152265
Hi Guys ! 32M traveling solo from UK. Looking to meet up with people in the evenings for a few beers if anybody is around. I am in Osaka 19th - 22nd and Tokyo 23rd - 29th
Anyone in Tokyo 8-14 May? ๐
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15c128ZQYqlzlU-47PTCHQ3HfzKgVtG7-KSwnm8CsX28/edit?usp=sharing
Yes lots of people. Check this
I have just update the events tab with all live music shows im going to with links to the bands relevants youtube/spotify pages. Im going solo so happy for anyone else to tag along and we can grab food/before or after!
Yes I'm sure lots of people are there but I think we have to talk to find out what people will be doing, no?
Everyoneโs in on their own business, whether theyโre open to meet anyone else is another thing.
Eg I will be so far from Tokyo and Osaka during those days, no point even putting it in
very fair point haha
have a look at the other threads. This will be very active in a few months. Theres always people out and about asking if they want to meetup. Happened last year too
I'm trying to be less introvert, just look at the February threads. There's always a meetup
as long as it isnt a drinking session
im going to cosholic on 18th may. i dont know if people are interested but you have to buy the photo book as entry ticket and need ID
I just googled this ๐
hahaha
its annoying that they are oholding it outside of tokyo
i guess the available convention places are getting more expensive over the years
Great! I understood! You can not wait for coming Japan!!
Iโm mostly the opposite of you in terms of when Iโll be in Osaka / Tokyo but Iโll overlap with you in Tokyo on the 23rd and 24th
Ah nice ! ๐
Would definitely be interested in an evening meetup
So finally filed in the sheet to
anybody going to check out the Grand Sumo Tournament?
I was thinking about it
there's also no point talking about it now since we're so far away from the dates, we have general plans but no specific yet, unless you have events you want to go to. best to park it until it's closer to the date
honestly i cbk if i'm back in tokyo (or close to) around that time, not entirely sure yet if i'll be back or not by sunday
but we'll see
oh it's only 30 mins by train from tokyo station, that's not bad. i thought it was going to be way worse
Ty, my main concern is getting tickets prior to the event as onsite tickets may take longer
when does presale come out? i can't find it on the website
Itโs usually announced 1 month before
alright ez we'll just keep an eye out
Itโs announced on twitter
Hi all Iโm going to Japan from May 5th to May 13th. Looking for a travel buddy. Im from the US and am 22 year old. Find me on instagram: @mattschalch
hi ๐ if you look in the pins here in this thread, there is a google sheet with people putting in when & where they are going to be - you might find someone there and someone might find you if you add your line
Hi guys
Any of you been to Izu Hanto?
I'm planning to go there this time but I'm a bit confused as to where to stay - Ito, Shimoda or Atami.
I wanna be close to the beach so.
Was checking out the Japan guide website but wanted to know first hand experience.
then I guess asking in https://discord.com/channels/440956791426383882/1063623358127820891 would be your best bet
(or alternatively in https://discord.com/channels/440956791426383882/1052473454554791966 if you have a question about a specific idea where to stay, like a hotel, airbnb or whatever)
Ah okay
Thank you
I may consider attending one of meshida comedy during my trip.
Anyone else interested
what's it like? & can i understand it with very little japanese lol
Hi! Iโll be in Japan May 4-11!
Going to be staying in Tokyo, but may go on a few day trips.
Also will be going to Viva la Rock on the 6th, if anyone else will be there!
hi ๐ There is a google sheet in the pinned messages here, where people put their dates in and out of Japan - you might find someone with same dates or someone might find you ๐
(BTW - I'll be in Tokyo on May 9th evening-ish, Kamakura daytrip on 10th and Tokyo sightseeing on 11th before flying home in the evening)
@sudden hare me too haha
Hi guys, Iโm Hiking mt fuji on may 6th, if anyone else is interested In coming message me! Iโll be in Japan may 2nd-18th but will put the rest of my trip on the google sheets ๐
yeah i'd be keen then!
Hello please consider #1342801246918152265 !
I might, but probably most likely need a reminder
lmao he also has a tour, that's kinda funny
i'll go through his stuff & see if i vibe with it, honestly i thought when you said meshida comedy you meant it was a venue, didn't realise it was just the one stand up guy lol
It can go in your calendar for now ๐ฅน
Check and see. Iโm not too fussed about it
Itโs in but hopefully I can get a hotel near Shinjuku at an affordable price
Are there any golfers in the chat that will be in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka) from May 21-29?
Only 2 months till may
I'm going. Can only go 17,18 or 20th
Hey in here- it's probably going to be crickets in response to this, but if anyone happens to be touring Tohoku between May 10-25ish and wants to hang out, let me know!
I would like to check it out with youโฆ but Iโll be back at home. ๐ข
Hey I'm gonna be there
I'm going to Hachinohe from 10-12 then Sendai and day trips from 12-16
Waking up to 3 pings from a thread I thought would be dead to me.. this really is the weirdest timeline ๐
Darn :( maybe some other time
Sweet! I forgot my dates for those but I'll get back to you after some coffee in me
Haha sure thing
Btw has any of you traveled to Sado island from Niigata before?
I'm planning to go (after changing my itinerary for the nth time) but I'm a tad bit apprehensive since I'm heavily dependent on public transport and I read a lot of Reddit threads where people mentioned hiring cars or bikes to travel all over the island
For sure, brother. ๐
Hello, I'm planning to go to japan for the first time from may 22- June 3. Can somebody guide me around in tokyo and osaka or can I tag along on ur trip ๐ฅบ I'm solo 25F btw
Hey peeps, will be in Tokyo from 20th May - 2nd June for the first time, would be nice to link up and grab a drink or food ๐ lmk
Weโll probably not tag along the trip, but grab drinks, do some yakiniku, or night life stuff for sure
@brittle iron will be in Tokyo during that time. Till May 25. So, karaoke or drinks or some pub hopping in the evenings?
will be in tokyo til 25 may too! 28f ๐
Hi guys, May 6th is my birthday, currently got no plans but solo travelling and will be in Tokyo, I may organise something if anyone wants to go for some drinks or any sightseeing or activities during the day let me know if you are about!
Sorry I don't drink but we can do something else ๐
Let's hang out ๐ค
I will be in tokyo till the 12th. Have no plans that night atm. happy to tag alonh~
@brazen wing @thorn arrow I'll be in Hachinohe on the 10/11th, would love to hang out.
I will be in Aomori for my first day on 11th but kinda wild seeing more people planning to be there already
hey piepz! 27 Dutch/Moroccan guy here. I will be going for the first time to japan (solo trip). 13 May - 29 May. Will spend most of my times in Tokyo with 2/3 days in osaka/kyoto. Down to grab some food, spend time in an arcade or just have fun in the evenings. Just looking for fun times in Tokyo and meet new people
ill be in japan 30th apr to 27th may and have friends joining me from the 18th onwards.
ill also be in osaka 5th -8th anyone got plans or anything. looking to going out drinking at this time?
@solid grotto Hi, please consider adding this to your itinerary #1342801246918152265
Oooo nice
Let's hang out
Hey all! I'll likely be arriving May 15th. 30m
Likely doing Tokyo -> Osaka, but still planning out what I'm doing in between. I would love to join someone for hiking ๐ (and other things, I'm just particularly excited about hiking)
Hello, I'm solo travelling from the 17th till the 31st, 18th - 22nd in Kyoto, 22nd to 24th in Osaka and 24th to 31st in Tokyo. Trying to put myself out there so I don't spend two weeks alone, mostly plan to see touristy stuff in Kyoto, Eorzea (FFXIV) cafe in Osaka and a bit of tourist stuff, and tons of tourist stuff and shopping in Tokyo (mainly for anime goods, retro game stuff, anything else cool I find). 37 Male New Zealander if that helps, I'm pretty chill and open but quiet lol.
What's everyone doing for lodging?
Thinking about good places to stay between Japan and Osaka
im just staying in tokyo all the way
Same place the whole time or are you hopping around?
same, my events are all in tokyo
Iโm doing the Akihabara Washing Hotel in Tokyo and SureStay Plus Hotel in Osaka. Those gave me fairly good prices while still being in good locations for transit and highly rated on Booking.com.
Iโd recommend looking at like Google or Booking where you can filter hotels for your price range on your dates and easily compare.
The Accommodations channel has a pinned message tier list of big hotel chains.
From what I've been seeing so far, $80-100/night seems to be the average?
I might consider doing some of the pod hotels, I assume those are cheaper but I just haven't come across them yet
Yes. Though Osaka generally you can get better deals than Tokyo.
prices are already up...
Like, I got an Osaka hotel for about $80 USD per night and Hiroshima for like $60 a night, and Tokyo for a little over $100 a night.
I tried to divert my trip a bit to hiroshima on a saturday, decided against very quickly
Are you all going with some amount of yen in cash? I've been reading that there's a lot of cash only places and I figured I could save some money by researching conversion options early. I'm not sure how much to aim for though
YES
Iโm going there on Sunday-Tuesday.
Are you getting to Hiroshima by train from Osaka?
no I will start the day from Hamada
after successfully bringing myself to somewhere not exactly interesting
Yeah last time I went to Japan I had already purchased about 100,000 yen in cash back home to bring for a 10 day trip. Ended up loading half of that onto my Suica though. Had to withdraw more in Japan.
but fee free debit card plus 7-11 atm, and always having some 30k yen in cash would do
Iโm taking the train from Tokyo to Hiroshima, then Hiroshima to Osaka, then finally from Osaka back to Tokyo the day of my flight out.
ohh okay
If the only thing you want to do in Hiroshima is visit the Peace park it is doable to day trip there via bullet train from Osaka, but anything more than that I think youโd want to stay there overnight.
Visit Itsukushima island. I donโt have a super solid plan for that other than that Iโm going there for a day, but Iโve heard a lot of good things about it.
Btw saw your message about hiking. Would probably be interested in joining you for a hike, depending on how intense the hikes youโre planning are.
I'm definitely trying to keep it on the lighter side. Not looking to do Mt. Ena or Fuji for example. I think I saw someone here was doing a guided hike for Fuji, but unfortunately that will be before my arrival.
One thing I'm trying to figure out is which sections of the Nakasendo trail I'll do
- Capsule hotels are the realm of the desperate and not meant to be long term lodgings
Its more meant for "I missed last train, I'm drunk as shit, and I need to fall down"
You can typically find business hotels for like $50-90 USD a night in Tokyo
Osaka its even less
What country are you from?
if you are in city, most of the shops accept CC
the further you go out to the suburbs/rural
you will need cash
I'll be coming from the US
Yeah, I was just thinking maybe a night or two
I try to travel pretty light
Simple
Charles Schwab Visa Platinum Debit Card
Its free to get, its free to open
Simply zelle/transfer money from your bank account into your Charles Schwab Checking account
Then once you're in Japan, go to any ATM, and withdraw cash with the debit card
It will refund all ATM fees and you will withdraw money at market rate
oh man that's a great tip
I've literally withdrawn like
100,000 yen
and I lost lke
$1.50 in exchange
which is like nothing
yeah that's amazing
If you were to go to any exchange place, you'd probably lose about $50-80 USD
I already use Schwab too
Perfect
As for how much cash
You will want to carry about 20-30,000 yen with you most of the time
Many many things are still cash only
Many attractions, shrines, temples, areas that require ticket entry
Most of those places are still cash only
Many restaurants, especially ramen restaurants, are cash only
Basically whenever you eat at a restaurant
If you see a CC symbol like VISA or AMEX
It takes CC, you're in the clear
you can also always just ask
"Hey do you take credit card"
If they say no, no problem, just whip out your cash
and 20-30,000 yen is MORE than enough to cover virtually any meal situation you'll find yourself in
especially since most meals that are cash only are going to be less than like 4000 yen
If you go into more rural areas or smaller cities that aren't Tokyo and Osaka
Cash is much much much more common
some taxis will only take cash
Yeah with the fee free withdrawals I think I'll be okay and maybe take 30k at a time
What phone do you have?
iphone
Then you can just load SUICA onto your phone
and load a CC to load your SUICA
If you were an android user, then you'd need a physical card and that would require you to have lots of cash on hand to reload it
Have you loaded SUICA yet?
Oh cool. No but I was just about to look into it today
- Open Apple Wallet
- Add Card
- Click on Transit Card
- Type in SUICA
- Add SUICA to your apple wallet
- Load SUICA with credit card in your apple wallet
- Tap phone on subway gate to ride subway
My Bank of America Visa wonโt let me add cash to an Apple Wallet Suica ๐ญ
And yes Iโve tried to do it during Japanese banking hours. Does the Charles Schwab visa debit card let you do it?
That's strange your visa doesn't work
Try a different card?
My visas work
I guess I havenโt tried my visa debit card. I only have 1 of each.
Same here
I usually load my Suica via Apple Pay - which of course in the end amounts to the same because my cards are connected to my Apple Pay, but I have never had any issue with topping up my Suica that way
From the r/JapanTravel subreddit I had seen that some Visas and Mastercards fail at it. https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/s/UQoOdC4zy2
โPlease note that at this time, non-Japan-issued Visa and Mastercard cards sometimes cannot be used to charge mobile IC cards. The most reliable card to use for refilling digital IC cards at this time is American Express. Additionally, the online system goes down every night for maintenance (from about 12-5am JST). If you are having trouble charging a mobile IC card, try during Japan's daytime hours and with multiple credit cards.โ
For whatever reason it just worked, after not working several times before ๐
Would anyone like to go to a sumo match?

lol i need to start to shower more often if im going to be meeting you guys its been a while since i went outdoors
I saw on tiktok that there is this big arcade hall with multiple floors where you only pay at entrance and everything in the arcade is free. Anyone down to go there with me?
would be fun with more people then solo
This was probably Round1. They are all over japan. Its more for kids/families TBH.
I have done it a few times. I thought only the arcade floor was worth it
https://www.round1.co.jp/service/spo-cha/about/index_eng.html
i dont know if its this one
the tiktok i watched was meant for adults
not really kids
i'm down for arcade, when are you coming?
i'll be Apr 20 - May 10
ah fuck fr?
i will be in tokyo from 13 till 29 may

when will u be in japan?
I'm going back the 20th (march) for a year
But ye it is (or was) the biggest vr arcade in the world
Going to join a japanese learning course so basicly gave up my job for that. So will just do part time job while studying at school 3 hours every day
very cool man! Do you see yourself living there?
in the near future
or do you just want to learn the language and then go back to your country
Well I have been together with my JP girlfriend for 1.5 years now. So we've been gooing back and forth between both countries now. So this year will be the deciding part basicly. Work culture there is so intense :c So I'm not sure how I would adapt haha
i see, maybe remote work?
dont know in what field you are specialised
but if its IT then it wil lbe very easy
ye IT and teaching are the easiest. But I'm in the technical part. Havent graduated university so that makes it more complex :c
Oh I see you have the first time badge. Will it be your first time there?
oh i see.
yeh that makes it a bit harder
maybe private english teacher?
yes, will be the first time
im stoked
Nice!! The first days are always the best! I'm sure your expectations will be fullfilled!! ๐ ๐
really? Oehhh cant wait
will you only go around Tokyo? Or also the other tourist hotspots? Like Kyoto/Osaka?
still deciding how many days i will spend in kyoto and osaka
but i wil ldeff visit them too indeed
sent you a req๐ซก

wud love to and will, just havent solidified my schedule yet
that sounds awesome, I would definitely go

@bold yoke sent u a friend request
I'm gonna be in Tokyo from 8-10 May and then again from 22-25 May
Pretty much exact same dates as me! :))
I'll be there from 15-29
Who is interested in a group hike? I'm thinking maybe mt. Hiei/Ibuki and some sections of the Nakasendo trail
I'll be in Tokyo on 9-11 May
(well, 9th in the evening to 11th in the afternoon)
the whole plan is: Sendai (28 Apr to 01 May) => Morioka (02 May to 05 May) => Nagoya (06 May to 08 May) => Tokyo (09 May to 11 May)
wait yeah this looks extremely kid oriented ๐
I expect it would be.
i cant wait to join you guys im gonna wear jeans and black hoodie
i am going to visit the manga cafe and pull an allnighter reading manga i cannot wait to eat ramen with people in here ๐
i am kind of shy so i will maybe stay a little further away from you guys but still follow you

Anyone else eyeing a mt fuji trip, fuji q highland? coz im wondering if an afternoon pass is worth it no? quite hyped for the fujiyama, zokkon, horror house only tho
yes definitely planning this
Mt Fuji trip definitively
Will you be staying some nights?
Na it'll be a day trip
I have ambitiously planned a lot so Fuji stay won't be possible I think
Hi! Did you book a tour via klook?:)
Not yet
I saw some but I'm not sure if I'll be booking a tour
Because it's pretty easy to do by yourself
I see! How do you plan on getting around if not via klookโs tour? the bus i presume?
You mean a climbing Mt Fuji or just around the area?
Just the area
You lot know if the ghosts in the haunted hospital touch you? ๐ญ afraid I might wuss out if they do, donโt want to be wasting the day pass now
No actually, they donโt! Pretty damn sure japanโs strict about no touching in those attractions
aaand haunted hosp is not included in the day pass btw! youโd have to pay an additional of 4400 which counts for the group
Ah. I am lacking of research it seems. Thank you
Yep the bus line for me as well
You will be abducted by aliens
Oi definitely yeah, forgot to mention this small issue.
Ya the bus
Shall we plan for the 9th then?
I missed seeing Fuji on my last trip so wanna do that this time
I will join fuji on the 9th I am staying there on the 7th and 8th I think as Iโm hiking it on the 8th
Aw damn. Wouldโve loved to but you lot go right ahead, arriving a tad later on the 13th
Ohh I'll be in Sendai then
Wow
Good for you mate. How cool. You sound like the perfect lad to protect me in the horror house no?
50 days and its May
I only know how to climb mountains unfortunately Iโm still scared of ghost as much as anyone if not more๐คฃ๐คฃ
Ah guess weโre in the same boat then ๐
If u find a klook tour please let us know link

My 40L carry on bag just came. So readyyyy
I was considering doing the go kart tour around mt fuji ๐ just for the unique experience, saying that the bus tour is probably muuuch cheaper
Will be sick plannin some events out there for sure
๐ very Interested, please place it in the google doc once plans are more cemented ๐ tyyyy
I have an event on the 14th if you want a cool party in Shinjuku
#1342801246918152265

Where is this? ๐

cool I'll reply so that i can keep track of the thread
@stark surge sure let's plan a meet up in the evening on 10th
Ooo yes
I'm trying to go to a match on the 18th, but was checking out this website https://www.buysumotickets.com/shop/tokyo-maythat buys your tickets for you and appears that their pre-orders are already fully booked. Has me anxious for getting tickets
I was looking into attending some matches, I see they will be having a 14 day tournament in May
Do you think they sold out?
Not sure, but I checked all the dates in May and it looks like they aren't taking any more orders. Best hope I think now is to be ready right as the tickets release.
One thing to be aware of if you're going to book, is whether to get a further seat in an actual chair vs sitting in the box seats
From what I've read, they are not super spacious and people over 6ft tend to really regret going with that option
and that even closer to covid times when boxes were limited to 2 per box, that felt like almost not enough room for some people
Good point
do Sumo take place in day, afternoon, or nights?
thats almost all day
wow
i think May 25th sounds best. trophy day
and will also work perfectly for me too
That day will be tough to get tickets :c
Would anyone on the 26th to 30th of May care to a join a solo dude at the FFXIV cafe in Tokyo? At the very least we could argue about Lalafell being the best race (they are)
I play almost all the FFs except the online games, sorry
Too bad Iโm already gone
Sumo is a big day out
It's pretty chill, bring some snacks and make it like a picnic outing with some friends
U can attend any parts of it right?
Yes
Cool
i never played but the cafe looks sick
I will be going to disneyland during my trip, anyone else interested to go?
when did you arrive again, i forgot
27
I've set 3 alarms hoping to get the tickets for the finals ๐ .
if anyone has their itinerary finished and dont mind sharing it, send me a dm
looking for some inspiration
โค๏ธ
Sure mate how much you willing to pay?
๐
hmmm
how about some ice cream on me
i put on my calendar for april 5th, but not sure what time
What places are you looking for itineraries?
Can i tag along?
absolutely keen for sure
i don't play much anymore but i still love the game & franchise
ah wait, i might be gone by then sorry ๐ฅฒ
I was contemplating this too & universal studios, let me know if you're on it ๐๐ฝ
Anyone in Osaka 6th may- 9th may? Looking for additional things to do. Like Osaka expo or get a group together to have a few drinks
Iโm down for Disneyland and/or disneysea
Iโm looking to do a day trip to the fuji shibazakura festival if anyone else is going
when will you be in osaka for universal studios?
I'll be in osaka on 27/28/29 May
i'll be in osaka from 2nd - 8th may
does anyone wanna go to ghibli park in may?
If you have some dates in mind, add them to the spreadsheet #1302999235121123328 message
and get a month role id:customize
im in tokyo my whole trip so i was hoping on getting tickets for the museum. do you plan on checking that out too?
if anyone else is interested lmk and we can try to snipe some tickets when they release lol
oooh im in Osaka during the same time! would be down to get drinks!
also, anyone planning to go to universal? is anyone getting the fast passes
@bold yoke Mind if i tag along to disney ๐คฃ
Too bad i made her cry a little early poor thing ๐ฅด
You can run on the streets in tshirt in may
There can be rain now and then, ike last year. But in general its decent weather. No hot hot, no cold.
So even short pants can be done.
Bring 1 or 2 sweaters tho. Because evenings can be tricky if its windy
between 20 and 30c. It starts to get 30+ early june
<@&560861727692947456> tickets for reporting are down, how to go about this? thank you!
What do you want to report?
Please check my dm @dreamy jetty
Bitching
Trash sorted itself out.
We know May is coming up so the drama coming in
dahm so i m going in the best month yet
weather in may sounds amazing
so a jacket is not needed right?
i can just take a sweater with me
I would take jacket for May, it can get chilly sometimes.
Not winter jacket, but autumn/spring sure
noted!
another maybe stupid question
i dont think my hotel has a washing machine
do they have services for that in japan?
anyone that knows
Yes
Humidity + 8-10C is not the nicest combination, especially in the evening
There are a few places with Laundry Machines around.
There are coin laundries.
Non-business hotels without coin laundry from 3 stars up have often regular laundry services.
allrigh thanks guys, will check it out then
โค๏ธ
do jp people hae something against wearing hats or glasses?
Glasses like sunglasses?
It should be fine ๐คทโโ๏ธ Same thing with Mask ๐คทโโ๏ธ
You might look a bit shady tho haha. But I guess inside restaurants and stuff you'lll take them off anyway
yeh i dont want to give that vibe off hahahhaha
good point
wont this chat become messy in may when mutliple groups want to talk and plan things?
will become very hectic no?
You can create new threads when you are actually planning rather than chatting in general.
weird
oh oke didnt know if that was allowed
cheers mate!
@wet hedge Iโll be hoping to get a group together around the time. Iโve been out in Osaka before and thereโs some good bars around Osaka station.
Checking the excel, no one going to fukouka ๐ญ
Welcome to the Inaka club
I donโt even bother putting mine into the excel lol
Tbf i've heard the best bars/clubs are in osaka
My friend's travel plans opened up so I'm back on track for visiting in May!!!
Looking to see if anyone want to go to cosholic on 18th at Saitama super arena. You would have to buy your tickets.
I understand itโs not for everyone
anyone going to a baseball game in early may? my friends arent into sports and dont wanna be alone lol
will be in tokyo
Only early may? I'll get there with a friend mid may
yeah it'll be like last few days of april and we leave on 10th of may
ah too bad, I'll be arriving the 17th probably
are you guys planning on going to a game?
My friend said he's interested in seeing some baseball, yeah. I definitely want to see a sumo match
sumo please lol
i heard you have to sit on your knees though the whole time
#1302999235121123328 message
the "good" seats are basically sitting on your knees, yeah
if you want to be up close
yeah i cant make it ๐ฆ
thats the day im going from toyko to osaka
not going to be in that area
I'll probably go-to a game in the first week of may
I arrive on the 27th
Home games 1st 5th 6th 7th May in Tokyo dome
i can do any of the 3 days for now. my group is pretty much freestyling most of our tokyo stay so whichever one is more convenient for you
and giants vs tigers should be a pretty hype match
have you been before? im from australia and baseball isnt a thing here but the atmosphere is great.. Im not fussed. How about we do monday the 5th. Will lock it in my itenary
im happy to buy tickets for both of us. you can pay me/shout me food/drinks

I dont exactly know what this is. I looked it up. Is it just a raunchier cosplay convention ?
Sexy cosplay event basically
Check out the videos on YouTube ๐ not my kinda thing lol
I see. I dont know much about cosplay culture myself
hey i'm down to join you guys for baseball on the 5th of may, also from australia
cosplay culture in japan is different than elsewhere
im looking to go rafting in okutama if that sounds fun to anyone
bet!!
got space for one more?
do you already have a date set for it?
that's cool. I think my friend and I would be down for that.
Is there some website for where to rent equipment or how does it work?
weโre looking at this one https://en.crusoe-raft.com/
the AM course that starts at 9:30 am:)
hey guys, 30 turkish guys living in german . I will travel for the first time to japan (alone). The Plan is to arrive in may 13.5 (10 days or more). I spend most of the time in Tokyo with 3 or 4 days in kyoto about osaka im not sure yet. I am Just looking for fun times in Tokyo meet new people and see some new thinks. Grab some food together and just have funโ๐ฝ
๐ซก
we already got tickets for the 7th, it was pretty hard to get them and i dont know how adding more people would work cuz finding pair of seats was a task lol :S
interested if it's on 23/24!!!
that works for viv and i ๐ค
hm I may not make it if it'll be 23/24
I'm in tokyo prior to that and then heading to osaka
Ahh i'd have been on this but I think i'll be in Kyoto during the dates you mentioned ๐ฅด
Is anyone staying at hostels? Just curious if there's any recs
i was in unplan shinjuku when i was there last & it was great
obvs depends on what you are looking for, but it is very close to shinjuku nightlife, but at the same time away enough that you won't get bothered by noise (like a 10 min walk into a suburbish area)
i'll likely be there as well for some part of my stay, i enjoyed going out quite a bit, was close to a station too
@solid grotto sorry guys we already got tickets. It was really hard to get more than 1.
looks like a nice place!
Were there lockers for luggage or something like that?
Ah, found it on the site:
We have a luggage room open 10-22h for those who have large luggage that they prefer not to keep in the dormitory rooms. Guests can leave their luggage here for free during their stay, as well as drop off their belongings before check in. After checking out, it is 400 yen per night to keep luggage here.
They were nearly all sold out
I have stayed here a few times as well. I don't do hostels anymore tho as I got really sick one year. Lots of people were coughing and not wearing masks
it was fine when i went last year, might just be an unfortunate sick batch of guests, but i guess that comes with the territory of sharing a room with 20 strangers
there aren't any individual lockers, you just bring it up to the room. i had a big luggage & i could fit it in there fine
kind of inevitable to get sick when you're around people from all over the world
They also have a private room too
I stayed at imano hostel too one year. It's on the same street as unplan.
Didn't like this one much as it was bunk beds and mattress/pillow was really bad. Was very cheap tho
eh I'm okay with pricier, just looking to switch it up from business hotels
Unplan is good. Social spaces are nice there
No worryโs. Have fun
maybe you can join us for dinner before hand ๐
or if you manage to catch the game on the same day we can chill at the batting/pitching cage :D
He bailed last year when we went to the golf driving range ontop of a building ๐คฃ . thats cos they charged us gaijin prices. Batting cage is like 1000Yfor 30 balls. its fun
hope they wont charge gaijin price for the cages ๐
saw it was 500yen for 1 play but didnt know how many balls that is
might buy a glove in japan if anyone also happens to have a glove and wanna play catch sometimes LOL
its just a coin machine that you push cash into like arcades haha
I am
Previously I stayed at Imani Toyo hostel in Shinjuku
Very close to the nightlife but tucked away in a quiet street with lot of food options around
This time I'm staying at Ueno Tokyo Grids hostel and Koenji Grapehouse
here are some things people can look out for in any month :

quick question in which district are you all staying
i booked for akasaka but now thinking about asakusa
Id suggest Ueno
Akasaka is better in every way except it's probably more expensive
Please use #accommodations for accommodation questions, this channel is for planning meetups
oh ofc i will!
At the moment, Shibuya and Shinjuku, ihavenโt decided yet
Hey there ! I will be in Tokyo all of may !

Omg WHAT
Can't believe I'll miss this ๐ญ
Bloodywood is amazing

I hope they play the older ones

I am so jealous

Send pictures!
I will be jelly but I'd rather see 'em
I land 30th and leave Tokyo on the 3rd
Would anyone be interested in doing a gift swap from ur hometown/ country?
yes!!!
We are now closer to May 1 then February 1
Time to calculate
Yep
Awesome! Sent u a friend request <3, anyone else interested dm me!
YALL READY???
no.
me either im scared
i have travel anxiety too but should be fine prob
You'll be fine
Japan is nice
im worried about some stupid things tho LOL
What makes you the most anxious?
being on a plane that has a layover in us, layover in us, crowded places
many times but seeing plane crashes and canadian visitors being detained doesnt help lol
Oh the ICE stuff? ๐
Tbh you won't get bored since there is tons of stuff to do for all kind of people
You can post your itinerary in #planning-and-itineraries if you want feedback
Yes there are plenty of activities to do
yeah we're slowly filling it up, and not really sticking to a strict schedule
If you're in Tokyo on the 14th... #1342801246918152265
sorry not a fan of live music outside band concerts
japan has an amazing music scene but its not for me ๐ฉ
honestly just walking around and trying out some hole in the wall diners is a vibe in itself
will be doing that a lot
Thats rly one of the best part
anyone gonna be in tokyo May5-9?
ya
are u gonna try to grab a spot at the kirby cafe?:P
i heard it can be difficult to get a reservation ๐ญ
oh shoot
reservations for may would release on the website april 10th at 6pm japan time
thanks for the info! i added it to my reminders lmao
well catch up bruv
Anyone going to Haboโs advertised event? Since i finalised my kabukicho hotel, I can go
Heeey, I'm landing in tokyo on the 3rd, and leaving on the 17th, if there's anything going on I'll be more than happy to meet, do stuff and have a drink with you'all!!
Could get food on them days?
Maybe
theres a google sheet in the pins where people put in their trip dates - check it out, maybe theres someone who coincides
(I'll be landing on Apr 28 and staying until May 11, but only 2 evenings in Tokyo effectively)
Ueno
I stayed in Asakusa but everything seemed far from there
AkaSaka is a better bet
Yess
Bit random but does anyone know of any decent tattoo spots in tokyo?
i've seen a lot of cool tokyo shops on instagram, but i was wondering whether i would want to try to heal a tattoo during/after a trip though
Im planning to get it on my last day there, will be no issue with the healing afterwards..ideally if they use second skin I wouldnt even need to worry about it during the flight - I have 2 or 3 places saved on insta but thought id ask incase anyones had anything done whilst out there
Any of you gonna be in Sado island or Niigata? Around May 16-18
https://s.klook.com/c/E3xpxVdey8
If anyone is interested. Immersive fort Tokyo (tickets are cheaper on their website than on klook).
The Alice in Borderland experience looked really good
Hey guys! Sorry if this was already mentioned before, but the Japan May 2025 spreadsheet now has a CALENDAR sheet. Please fill it out when you get a chance. It would be helpful to see where everyone is during their stay, making meet-ups much easier.
https://discord.com/channels/440956791426383882/1351195312043069490
If anyoneโs coming to Osaka in May please click here!
Sorry I know people filled out the calendar already, but wanted to tack on a additional thing for easier planning.
On the days you are willing to meetup, if you could just **bolden **those boxes I would appreciate it!
damn we got 60 people listed in the spreadsheet already lets go
makes me want to stay in Tokyo longer instead of splitting some time in Fukouka for more hangout opps
More yet to come im sure
That's exciting, first time I'm going so far alone, can't wait to experience that
just added to the sheet feel free to dm me dont check this often
damn seems like lot of people going in may will be in tokyo in the latter half of the month
So much Tokyo in the spreadsheet. It's a lonely desert up in Tohoku where I'm going. ๐ฅฒ
Except @thorn arrow
on the bright side less crowded mayhaps?
1000% likely, no one goes to Tohoku lol
Gonna have to try and talk up the locals, no other way
going alone is way better than with people imo. have gone a few times with people before and its annoying having to think about your friends, I can do what I likeeeee!
Going alone then meeting with people reduces stress
yeah basically why i really like going solo, tbh the best way to have friends on trips is if i go & the dates where i'm there/they're there just sorta overlap
like only meeting for some days, not having to worry about if your interests match up
i straight up told them my dislikes and told them to go without me, better for everyone that way instead of following along and be miserable(speaking from experience xd)
the first time i went to japan with 5 mates, following year I went solo but I didnt make an effort to meet people. I got depressed ๐ now I try to make a concious effort to get out of of my introverted bubble
Talking to the locals if you can is great
Had some unexpected adventures these last 2 trips when I did
i think the last time i went solo, i was basically meeting up with someone from either this discord or going out with hostel people every single night
yeah i did that last year too. much more enjoyable๐
i was tired af after but genuinely was a very good time
ye
& it'll be good this time too
i organised a karaoke event, like 40 people rocked up ๐
i was hard to coordinate paying for everything but worked out well in the end
damn i think last time it was 10ish people? & yeah that was already a hassle with payment lol but it was a really good time out!
40 feels way too much
that sounds too chaotic lol
i've had karaoke with around 20-30 people before, it's fine, it's just a big group of people singing
if it really feels too much we can break it up, but i feel like for karaoke, any number above 10 won't make too much of a difference vibe wise
sorry yeah we split it up into 4 rooms, but yeah was stil fun
No one is in Osaka in the 4th week when I'm gonna be there, feels like a bunch of folks have basically the opposite Tokyo/Osaka schedule to me ๐ญ
@tawny vector here
hi
Iโll be in Osaka Iโm the best local in town ๐
who is going to the may 25 sumo tornament
im leaving tokyo that day but its right by my hotel so i can ship my luggage to the osaka hotel and just go there that night and watch the sumo that day
Im trying to
Does anyone have any tips on how to start planning the trip? I feel like I'm trying to scoop the ocean with a ladle lol I don't know how/where to start
#planning-and-itineraries message
something like this for a start?
Hi, I'm a solo female traveler and I'll be in Tokyo : 16th-22th May / Kyoto : 23th-26th May / Osaka : 27th-30th May. If you a girl feel free to DM if you want to hang out with me!! (sightseeing, eat, thriftโฆAnythinggg)
Thank you so much๐
Id say things that require booking in advance, get those sorted..maybe 1 or 2 things a day so you dont overbook..then just fill up the rest of your day with free things like sightseeing temples, shops, restaurants etc. Give yourself the flexibility to make last min changes
pokemon/nintendo/kirby cafe generally need reservastion
Pokemon & Kirby cafe definitely, if by nintendo you mean 84 Hashi Cafe then yes also
๐ May is gona be a good month
my thoughts on going to Japan last April: I'm doing May again
anyone interested in going to Universal studios with some company?
Would be down depending on dates?
I do all of my planning on Wanderlog because It can help me map out distances of different locations as well as when stores are open/closed. I use the free version and it works great!
I start by pinning all the towns, major sites, etc. interesting to me on maps, to get the visualization of what my trip is going to look like
I'll be in Tokyo from 16th to 22nd May, let's hang out if you want! 22F
yeah sounds good! keen to make plans closer to the date
unless you have something specific you want to do on each day, I'm very lax with my schedule lol
Wanderlog actually saved me the disappointment of planning a shinkansen museum trip on a day when said museum is closed ๐
40 days till May

๐
Ahaha same I juste saved on my phone some activities that I want to do but didn't decided yet which days I'll do it lol. Let's plan in DM ๐
Will be there at the same time ๐ no plans so far. 20f
Sounds great!!! I'm sending a DM!
we can plan closer to the date maybe? there is also a #1349498727219335248 if you're interested
I just had to google that, looks interesting ๐
This arcade Pokemon game was so fun and cheap to play! You really get your money's worth on this game!
Plush Time Extra
https://www.youtube.com/@plushtimeextra
I had to Play this Pokรฉmon Arcade Game again in Japan!
https://youtu.be/nSsUZ9cFAG4
#japan #pokemon
This is crack
no its not that mate
let me link it
so its a arcade machine where you can fight and catch pokemon
if you catch them, you will get a physical disk of the pokemon
that you can use to fight other pokemons in the arcade game
its legit drugs.
if ur into pokemon like me, then this fills a new type of hole for you
I played thiswell tried to at least its all in japanese tho so not very enjoyable if you cant read japanese
really?
there's lots of user interface stuff you need to read,
hmm
anyhow try it, you might get along okay
learning curve is pretty low
yeh we will see
if i watch a yt vid then i prertty much know how to play it i guess
Yeah I saw a clip of this on youtube ๐ ยฅ100 a go? Before you know it you've probably put ยฅ10k in the machine ๐ฅด
any dancers in chat??
I dance west coast swing
looks like there's a small presence
https://www.instagram.com/westie_tokyo/?hl=en
im still figuring out when i should go since i can just go at any time, is may a good month?
What do you mean good?
Which seasons are good for traveling in Japan? What is the best time to travel to Japan?
sorry, i guess for traveling (not too busy, things open,
actually nvm @quick idol, thank you ๐๐๐
What are your criteriaโs
Come for the 14th #1342801246918152265
i'm seeing golden week is an option too
I donโt have much choices, it is all based on event dates

Golden Week is what you want to avoid
@bold yoke @bleak garnet i found this, seems quite in depth. i'm keen to play as well at some point, i love pokemon
also feel like 100 yen is p normal for arcade
i am also 100% down for arcade in general though, last time we went & just did tekken, was a blast
Isn't there a building thats just filled entirely with arcades/claw machines? Or am I imagining it? ๐
Floor yes
All Taito stations are fillw with claw games and arcades. Usually 4-5 floors
Building? Maybe a small one
The virus did a number on game Centers
There used to be a few in akihabara, now only 1 stand
Thats sad man
Well maybe gigo will recover
Most arcades have become full of mostly crane games and similar because they are bigger money spinners than actual games
I need to go through my itinerary again im sure I had noted some big arcade place somewhere ๐ซค
should i go the week after
Ah fair enough
Yes it will be much cheaper, less crowded, and easier to book accommodation (you should still book accommodation ASAP though)
and you can come to my party on the 14th :D
Yup, rates are generally cheaper after a major holiday
i think i will do that, i was gonna book after i got my plaque back at old home, but ill just go back to my old home after japan
i'd just hate to not go back to my apartment for over a month while paying for it
lifes all about sacrifices though
Money comes and goes, experiences and memories are forever ๐
