Asking for directions can be harder, particularly if Google maps isn't being very helpful (like Shinjuku station area), even just in restaurant or taxis as soon as you have to do anything non standard, taking the time to type into translate and hand your phone over is annoying, and then just at bars etc if you want to talk to people

Like when I was out with group from here on Friday night, we were thinking about sharing a taxi back but doing 2 stops to let someone off half way. I couldn't do that via Go app, so if we did it, we'd have to try and type that into phone and ask the driver that. Be a lot easier if I could ask that in Japanese

No suitcases arrived with me though. Due to delay from flight from Narita, I had 15 minutes in Amsterdam to transfer
