To me it was, but if you have experienced similar locations before you might want to check pictures what its like. I think the views were nice (on a clear day you can also see Fuji), its a nice nature retreat and being able to choose different trail for ascend/descend gives some vatiation. On trail 1 there are various tengu related temples, which were nice, so i'd recommend using that for one way. Tourist numbers were manageable, but i had eaten beforehand specifically since i expected that establishments in this kind of location would be stacked. Just escpect tourist to increase on weekend/when autumn colors get going.
