Whatever it is, the mood is definitely different, I spoke to more Japenese people in 1h in Osaka than in one week in Tokyo (though to be fair I'm quite reserved myself).
But a lot of countries seems to have the same kind of thing (e.g. Paris/Marseille, I've never to either but New York/California seems to be similar)

It’s a small venue that’s long front to back, so it’s easy to stand at the back to avoid the mosh. Japanese moshers are very polite and keep the movement to a designated area at the front

From the last festival I went to in august - my advice is to get there SUPER early, coordinate with the people you're meeting up with on a spot to meet at BEFORE you get there. So many people go to these things that you wont have any phone service
