I made the very stupid mistake of booking a regular USJ ticket rather than the specific Nintendo World one - so I’m debating if I should go anyway since I paid in place of what I originally had down (stuff like Osaka castle, Kita mall, den den town, namba/ dotonbori)? Or should I stick with original plans?

The way my itinerary is setup (2 days in Osaka, then 2 in Kyoto) I can only do one or the other Osaka wise.

You can just go to the park early and use one of the terminals there to get a timeslot for nintendoworld. I went there, bought a ticket at the entrance booth and then got a nintendo world ticket inside the park at thr terminal

I went to USJ last week and got into Super Mario world. Your ticket will work for a timed entry with the USJ app. You can't register it until you get your ticket scanned and you're inside though or the ticket will give you "invalid." if that doesn't work, you can get a physical timed entry if you trek through the park and find the designated area, which is a little past the harry potter world.

I considered buying a ticket from viagogo for a concert that had been sold out through the normal channels. When I looked into it more I found they have been banned in some countries because of malpractices, e.g. never sending the tickets to their customers. They also required signing the letter the ticket arrives, which isn't really possible at the place I'm staying at, so I gave up on that.

DnB is pretty niche here. It certainly has its fans, but it's not the kind of thing that packs out 10,000-people festivals like in Europe etc.

Actually pretty much all electronic genres here are 'niche', as the scene is so fractured into small communities of people who love specific sounds

which is part of the fun. There's a group you can be part of, no matter what you like

UK DnB artist Skepsis came to play recently. He was asking around trying to find out who 'the' big DJ was in Tokyo, and found that there isn't one. There aren't really any overarching trends or superstars in Japanese EDM

Just a lot of really good DJs and producers playing to the small crowds that really love them

Indeed. Two weeks ago there was a tiny event for bounce house/early 2000s hard house. Maybe 40 people were there at the end, but everyone was just super into the show. It was genuinely the best music event I have ever been.
