#How does the cloaked condition actually work?
6 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Generally any cloak should work as intended, although I am following up with the team on some outstanding issues where players are being detected when they shouldn't be.
Pinning down a potential cause can be difficult as it could be one of a number of combinations causing either the cloak to not take effect correctly or, be ineffective against a specific enemy.
If you do notice something strange, please let us know in here.
ok thanks, also should enemies be able to detect me if i’m boosting or cruise boosting?
I can confirm that cloak seems to be working completely randomly. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to whether enemies can detect me or not.
The only real way to ensure that I'm not detected by the enemies is to stand idle and do nothing while cloaked. If I do anything - boost, shoot, use devices, ULT - it immediately triggers enemies and they know exactly where I am.
I had numerous situations where I had pango's pride (or was spamming cloak generators), moved literally to the other end of the map using fusion hooks and teleport spam, but an outlaw teleport drone kept following me with 100% precision.
Once I've tried putting Pango's Pride on a bomber and was sniping enemies with cruise missiles in a High Risk Area. Even though I've been several thousand units away from nearest enemy, the moment the cruise missile exploded I had the entire map aggro on me instantly and two teleporter drones appear literally in front of my face.
Another example - I'm in a scout, flying at a group of enemies with shadow strike active - invisible for something like 10 seconds. They completely ignore my cloak and immediately start attacking me at ~2000 units.
In my opinion, in this state cloak is effectively useless. Scout's shadow strike is only useful for the crit boosts.
Here's a demonstration how useless invisibility really is:
It doesn't help that in game there's little to no information about how cloak should work. The description of the cloak generator only mentions that "shooting may alert enemies to your position", but clearly the enemies react to a lot more than just shooting weapons.
